I can confirm that Mike Admin is in a site in what used to be Russia; what it is now, I cannot know.

Mike has exclusive control over keys, pricing, etc. All I or any other sysop have control over is the forum, and that's limited.

Especially knowing this, I really hope Mike is okay.

I am 110% buying a license if they can get another batch of keys.

Known about this software for a long time, but only recently started my own local Jellyfin server and acquired a 4K capable ASUS drive.
Setting the date back has worked, so I have been able to get going, but I wonder if that will become an issue at some point.

I think, for what it's worth, that a distinction needs to be drawn between the site being hosted in Russia (as are other sites, such as LibGen) and Mike himself being Russian. As far as I'm aware, people on the subreddit have been indicated that their, admittedly limited, knowledge has indicated that he is in the UK.

On a PC running windows, just close makemkv. Change your system date. Then open makemkv and it should work. Once open you can change the date back because it seems to only check the date upon launch. You may have to reboot first. I have only done it after a reboot or after turning my PC on.

One of the mods on the subreddit said that he spoke to Mike on about the 1st of August, shortly before the payment site ran out of keys. He said that he is 99.99% sure that Mike is still alive, but said that he has not been able to renew contact for a little over a week now. The message that he keeps posting when people make queries on Reddit is “be patient, I’m sure that Mike will be back soon”.

Well, the payment link is no longer on the website, so someone who has control over the website has certainly been updating it. Definitely concerning that no one has updated us as to what's going on, but cest la vie.
