Yup, I've only ever burned BD-R SL (single-layer) discs of 25GB from MediaRange. It's not of my convenience though as bigger discs would have been better for my needs, it was because of the pricing BD-R DL and XL have at local retailers.
One BD-R XL of 100GB disc here is 11$ with shipping, while 4 BD-R discs of 25GB are 2.30$.

As for how I've burned them, unfortunately I didn't use the method above even though I had between 15%-16% free space on all discs, didn't knew about it until today. Now I hope I won't have dead sectors if I verify the discs an year later...
Well, I have 34 more discs left on the spindles so I'll keep using the same settings as now, and after I get more discs I'll use the method above even on these 25GB discs. As writing speed doesn't matter much for me as it matters to keep the data as error-proof as possible.

These 100 discs I'm burning now will be used as reference and research material in case one fails the verification or starts roting in a few years from now, so I need to keep the burning method the same until I'm done. Especially since my discs are (CMCMAG-BA5-000) and are known to be low quality from what I've read. So information about how they age in time will be precious on the internet.

You can even do your own quality checks with your drive. To do so flash it to WH60NS58 1.V5. Download this proggie:

Qpxtool requires this special firmware. You can always flash back to your ASUS firmware if desired but it is libredrive enabled as well. Regarding burning you can also compare discs burned with ASUS and that firmware.

Qpxtool requires this special firmware. You can always flash back to your ASUS firmware if desired but it is libredrive enabled as well. Regarding burning you can also compare discs burned with ASUS and that firmware.

This lit up multiple questions in me.

1. Do you mean this firmware? ---> "HL-DT-ST WH16NS58"
2. On the GitHub page of QPxTool it specifies it works with that firmware as long as it's under 1.V5 so any of them work right?
3. I have issues finding the specific "WH16NS58 1.V5" firmware file, where can I find it?
(that's why I asked above if any version under 1.V5 is fine)

I've flashed the drive with HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS58-1.V5-NM00900-211802070957 today and I've tried QPxTool to see what I can research on a burned disc.

Unfortunately it would seem I can't do all tests listed in QPxTool with this firmware, the only 2 tests which work are for Error Correction and Read Transfer.
Personaly I hoped I could do Jitter tests but this firmware doesn't support it. I couldn't find the firmware you asked to look for in the forum thread you linked above so I went and used the exact firmware mentioned in the documentation for QPxTool in GitHub.

At this point probably this is the most I can do unless I find the WH60 firmware and test it out.

NOTE: If the HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.03-NM00600-212005081010 firmware if the WH60 one you mentioned then I'm just dum-dum.

Thank you very much for all the provided guides on "How To" for what I needed.
I think I will be using the DE_ASUS_BW-16D1HT_3.10_MK firmware to burn discs and the WH16NS58 1.V5 to verify them in QPxTool.
With the occasion I will also do a comparison of the discs I've burned to the ones I will burn in the future with that flashed firmware.

(I hope for similar results, because if it's better on the flashed firmware, 69 discs I've done until now could have been done better...)

Thanks for posting that method, I found it to be working better on some discs (at least I think so).

A pity Imgburn (or other programs that I know of) doesn't have an option to just add a "dummy" file over the layer break, that would be quicker and easier. (It's possible to manually add before burning I guess, but especially for TL discs that's a bit tricky)
