I'm a long time user of MakeMKV and have been lurking on here for years, but just created an account, so I'm unable to PM. Would it be possible to get the flasher for the 212V? I just purchased one on Amazon when the news was posted about all Pioneer drives soon being able to be flashed, so I figured it'd be worth the risk if I got one with a weird firmware version.

Anyway, I posted my details on that thread, here:

My LG is fading so I'm hoping this will be able to handle UHD discs it was unable to rip—I lost my 4K collection when migrating to a new NAS, so I'm having to re-rip everything.

Thanks!

Have two Blu-Ray Drives, one was flashed for UHD but recently stopped working, refusing ANY firmware updates. The other hasn't been modfied, but I've seen people saying it can be flashed.

The one not working is an LG WH16NS40, it won't open its door or respond to anything. It's info, as copied:

Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BH16NS60
Revision: BOOT
Highest AACS version: 81

The other is a Pioneer Drive, I've not pulled it out since assembling the current build so I can't say anything from the label. It works right now, but can't do UHDs yet:

Drive Information
OS device name: E:
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-212V
Revision: 1.00
Serial number: ---
Firmware date: 2020-08-07
Bus encryption flags: 13
Highest AACS version: 81

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8F00
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-212T
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.00/ID06
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

Hi! I am also a long time user of MakeMKV and my ASUS drive is starting to give errors with reading discs. I saw the update of Pioneer drives potentially being supported in the future and took a gamble on a Pioneer BDR-212V. I have added the drive info below. Would it be okay to get the flasher for this? Thank you for your help! Also, I do have it in an enclosure and I read somewhere that the power and USB cable need to be removed afterwards. Does that mean right after flashing, I turn off the device with the power switch on the back of the enclosure, unplug the the USB cable and power cable, and then plug them back in before powering it back on?

Drive info:
OS device name: D:
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-212V
Revision: 1.02
Serial number: ...
Firmware date: 2022-05-31
Bus encryption flags: 13
Highest AACS version: 77

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8F00
Firmware version: ID06

No disc inserted

Hello! In anticipation of resolution of the Pioneer firmware/support issues, I picked up a BDR-212V:

Drive Information
OS device name: /dev/sr1
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-212V
Revision: 1.02
Serial number: <redacted>
Firmware date: 2022-05-31
Bus encryption flags: 13
Highest AACS version: 58

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8F00
Firmware version: ID06

I've tried using it as-is with my registered MakeMKV under Linux/Fedora 42 (installed via Flatpak) and I can't get it to work with ANY discs: DVD, Blu-Ray, UHD (I didn't expect this to work). My cross-flashed LG WH16NS40 (cross flashed to WH16NS60) works fine, so I know my MakeMKV install is fine. The discs mount and are browsable through OS, and the DVD can play via VLC, so I think the drive is OK. I had the same experience with a BDR-XS07S I had briefly. It will register a disk being inserted and then just spin with "Disk Loading" forever.

This is my first Pioneer drive, so I'm not sure whether it should work out of the box with MakeMKV, or if there's some issue with it. Also, assuming that this is normal until it is LibreDrive enabled (via cross-flashing), may I have the necessary files for that, please?

Good day all,
May I please be directed to the firmware flash procedures as well?
My discs appear to be getting disc rot and I'm trying to preserve what I can (including UHDs if possible) and hear that this BDR 212V is a possible inexpensive solution.
I have one now, but don't know where to start. Any assistance is most helpful. Thank you.
