Honestly, I bought an LG BP60NB10 for $130 new and flashed it while I wait for Billy's Pioneers. I've been able to rip 98% of all discs, mostly UHDs, including ones I pick up used that aren't in pristine condition. I'm sure the Pioneer will last longer and cover that 2% but I do think it's worth considering the BP60N if people need something in the meantime.

I'm also interested in a Pioneer Drive. I recently bought a slim LG drive and I've already experienced a string of hash errors. I now understand why the reliability of Pioneer is so important!

For many years, my only drives were both LG. They have always ripped 100%. Sometimes the slim drive had challenges, but the desktop drive (in OWC case) always worked. Sometimes a disc would need to be cleaned (even though it looked spotless & was new), but in the end I was able to rip it.

Some of these discs were even purchased new, fresh out of the box. And generally, we always watched a ripped movie shortly after ripping it, so we know the rips were good.

That being said, with the Pioneer drives I now have, I have never had any issue with any disc (but my Pioneers haven't been in use as long...)
