Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Ok so I did further testing with 3 movies: Hereditary, Paddington 2 and Gemini Man. They are played from my external hard drive connected to my c9 oled via usb.
-If I use Grencola tool, Hereditary & Paddington 2 in dolby vision suffer heavy stutterring. However, if I use the original method (ts muxer & mp4muxer), Hereditary & Paddington 2 in dolby vision play smoothly. Why is this the case?
-Regardless of what tool I use, Gemini Man in dolby vision always plays at lower than 60 fps. The hdr10 version however plays correctly at 60 fps. Any fix?

basically you're comparing eac3to.exe (used in my tool) and tsmuxer.exe.. eac3to will do the job 9 times out of 10 just fine. some releases have the odd frame error and eac3to can slip up.deadchip12 wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2020 2:07 am Ok so I did further testing with 3 movies: Hereditary, Paddington 2 and Gemini Man. I see. I thought both are exactly the same.Grencola wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2020 2:25 ambasically you're comparing eac3to.exe (used in my tool) and tsmuxer.exe.. eac3to will do the job 9 times out of 10 just fine. some releases have the odd frame error and eac3to can slip up.deadchip12 wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2020 2:07 am Ok so I did further testing with 3 movies: Hereditary, Paddington 2 and Gemini Man. Any idea to make gemini man dolby vision runs correctly at 60fps?

So can i in theory use dual layer dolby visions files on a fast usb drive then connect it too my shield tv pro(2019),and then what player should i use that is compatible with that?

is all about the hardware. 4k 60fps @ 80mbps (~110 peak) is tough. you need fast components and even faster internet (if streaming). local media from an ssd or usb 3.0 drive on a tv w/ usb 3.0 would be ok so long as the tv model is adequate. even the shield pro with its crazy fast soc (tegra x1+) struggles on high bitrate 4k 60fps content.deadchip12 wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2020 3:04 am Any idea to make gemini man dolby vision runs correctly at 60fps?

when shield pro says it does dolby vision. it means it has the license and decoder for dvhe 5.06, a single layer profile meant for streaming. it won't play dual layer files. dvdfab can change around your dual layer files into single layer mp4s, but possibly at the risk of just getting hdr10 with a dolby flag on your tv.rosavanwinkle wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2020 3:28 am So can i in theory use dual layer dolby visions files on a fast usb drive then connect it too my shield tv pro(2019),and then what player should i use that is compatible with that?

The hdr10 version runs fine at true 60 fps on my c9 via external hdd though. Only the dolby vision version runs at lower than 60fps (can tell by eyes). Is dolby vision more demanding hardware wise?Grencola wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2020 3:40 amis all about the hardware. 4k 60fps @ 80mbps (~110 peak) is tough. you need fast components and even faster internet (if streaming). local media from an ssd or usb 3.0 drive on a tv w/ usb 3.0 would be ok so long as the tv model is adequate. even the shield pro with its crazy fast soc (tegra x1+) struggles on high bitrate 4k 60fps content.deadchip12 wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2020 3:04 am Any idea to make gemini man dolby vision runs correctly at 60fps?

i'm gonna need a screenshot on how you convert too single layer, lets say i got this dual layer file atm (fantastic beasts crimes of grindlewald) its a MP4 ,how do i convert it?Grencola wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2020 3:45 amwhen shield pro says it does dolby vision. it means it has the license and decoder for dvhe 5.06, a single layer profile meant for streaming. it won't play dual layer files. dvdfab can change around your dual layer files into single layer mp4s, but possibly at the risk of just getting hdr10 with a dolby flag on your tv.rosavanwinkle wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2020 3:28 am So can i in theory use dual layer dolby visions files on a fast usb drive then connect it too my shield tv pro(2019),and then what player should i use that is compatible with that?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
today i was reading the manual of the philips 804 i bought, and i found this:

What do you think it means? The assistance was unable to give me even half the information, they were able to say only "read the technical data sheet". I have not understood if he intends that the reader inside the TV is castrated at 30 \ 40 mpbs, or what else ...
The player inside the TV does not allow you to check the information of the video, so I don't know how much effective bandwidth it is from a Dolby Vision movie inserted from USB which theoretically should also have 80 mpbs ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Do we need m2ts file (from the original bluray disc) to make this dolby vision remux? Or does mkv file (from the remux version of the original bluray disc) suffice?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
technically that's all your TV's soc really needs to handle, since all the streaming apps using h265 wil max out around 30mbps. your uhd bd-player will be doing all the decoding on high bitrate discs. the newest Phillips 804 models use the P5 PRO chip that could probably handle more, but who knows..Erfero wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2020 7:45 pm today i was reading the manual of the philips 804 i bought, and i found this:

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
depends. if you want a single layer mp4, dvdfab needs to use the m2ts. my dual-layer mp4 tool can use both. I've made many from mkv and they play fine, however I have read some users (making far more than me) encountered the odd problem vs the always working m2ts.deadchip12 wrote: Fri Jan 24, 2020 3:12 am Do we need m2ts file (from the original bluray disc) to make this dolby vision remux? But if I put a DV backup on USB with 80mpbs video track? Philips isn't able to tell me if this limit applies only on streaming services, or even through USB... My model is the 804.Grencola wrote: Fri Jan 24, 2020 3:19 pmtechnically that's all your TV's soc really needs to handle, since all the streaming apps using h265 wil max out around 30mbps. your uhd bd-player will be doing all the decoding on high bitrate discs. the newest Phillips 804 models use the P5 PRO chip that could probably handle more, but who knows..Erfero wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2020 7:45 pm today i was reading the manual of the philips 804 i bought, and i found this:

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Man I tried many ways but still couldn't make Gemini Man in dolby vision to run at the correct 60 fps. I suspect there is mismatch between the framerate of 2 video layers somehow since the hdr10 version runs perfectly fine at 60fps.
