Hey tomalv, your post was well formatted but unfortunately disc dump files generated with your Pioneer drive are not suitable for the public keydb. The MakeMKV team have effectively blocked third party utilisation of these files by obfuscating the disc metadata.

If the MakeMKV team ever remove this intentional limitation, then your drive could be used to generate suitable disc dump files. But for the time being your only option is to either wait for native MakeMKV title support or purchase a UHD compatible LG/Asus/Buffalo MT1959 disc drive and generate a new dump file.

Perhaps I am missing something here... but I have been using MakeMKV for years and have a rather large collection. It has been rare that I get a disc that has an unknown key. Its only ever happened to me maybe once or twice. Now, all of a sudden, I have a stack of movies sitting on my desk that are all saying that the key is unknown. Maybe I am exceptionally unlucky this month... OR... something else is wrong. If I understand the process correctly, EVERY title MUST have an entry in the KEYDB? I would assume that keydb gets updated by several other sources, besides that of the MakeMKV users ( DVDFab, etc ). If I didn't know better I would think that some other source stopped updating KeyDB. Just saying that this has never been a problem... I've never had issues with ripping a disc... but in the last week, maybe two, I seem to be seeing a number of them. Anyone have any thoughts?

Not quite . You don't need to use KEYDB at all. However, it can be faster to add your disk to the public KEYDB than to wait for your key to appear in MakeMKV's own private "hashed keys" database.

MakeMKV cannot natively decrypt AACS v82 discs so if you have some new titles (basically from this year) then dumps will be created and should be emailed to svq@makemkv.com so the VUK can be derived and added to the internal hashed keys database.
