Besides missing L5, when and how do we know L5 is incorrect and needs to be fixed?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 12:49 amYou can't skip it, this workflow was designed to always fix incorrect L5.
Just edit it to 0,0,0,0

I just downloaded two web releases of John Wick 4 in order to test the rpu transfer and both are cmv2.9. Sigh. This takes too much time.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Ah ok. It's confirmed to be cmv2.9. No point doing the transfer then. Will try a different movie that is not on your spreadsheet.
Btw, I'm measuring the black bars for Dune 2 to see if I need to edit L5. Checking the bluray version and the top and bottom are both 276. For the stream version, there's no black bar (L5 missing). So I thought I would need to put in 276 for top and bottom when editing L5 in workflow 1-1. However, when I drag RPU_CMV4.0_L3L8L9_transfered.bin into workflow 1-1, the top and bottom are already 276 there. So does it mean I won't need to edit L5? Why is that?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
the L5 on the P5/P8 web-dl has nothing to do with the one on the bluray P7 rpu when you transfer cmv4.0 and L5 is almost always correct on bluray. It's just Apple and MA that are stupid.

Hmm ok. So for all the cmv4.0 transfers just type in 0,0,0,0 (i.e. pressing enter)?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 12:25 pmthe L5 on the P5/P8 web-dl has nothing to do with the one on the bluray P7 rpu when you transfer cmv4.0

No, and the script will force you to edit L5 only when its missing.... Watch the P8 hybrid tuto, I show how to measure the black bars of the BL and edit L5 when necessary

I watched that tutorial. Below is my 1-1 workflow. I measured the black bars of the BL beforehand and they were 276 for top and bottom, which match what I'm seeing here. So I can skip editing the L5?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 12:36 pmNo, and the script will force you to edit L5 only when its missing.... yes, when it's already the right values, you skip. As I said, L5 is rarely incorrect on Bluray.

I just checked Blue Beetle in aviSynth and it crops at 277 for top and 277 for bottom, while it reports 276 for top and 277 for bottom in dovi scripts. I guess we have to edit L5 for this one...RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 1:26 pmyes, when it's already the right values, you skip. As I said, L5 is rarely incorrect on Bluray.
What happens if I don't edit L5? Like if I don't do any of this stuff and just watch the original bluray with the wrong L5, will I notice something wrong with the picture?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
L5 tells the TV the part of the image(active area) to display/tonemap but all the hdmi devices ignore L5 so it doesn't matter to them. Only your TV internal player uses it.
there are L5 test files on my GD, try them and see what it does: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/fold ... fx6vRYDEfs
so with 0-0-277-277 L5 with a 16/9 video, the TV will display/tonemap: 3840x1606 pixels (it will exclude 554pixels row top/bottom)
276/277 will be 3840x1607 pixels meaning 1 row of pixels that are black bars will get tone mapping. A 1 pixel row is not enough to cause any visible defect though.

Huh? So if I'm using the Ugoos AM6B+ it won't matter if L5 is correct or not, or am I misunderstanding sth here?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 2:21 pmbut all the hdmi devices ignore L5 so it doesn't matter to them. Only your TV internal player uses it.

1- TV internal player
2- Windows Energy Player

Ok nice. I can save time by skipping editing L5 then.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 3:08 pmyes, L5 doesnt matter for all the devices except:
