Streaming On Mac OSX

Post by Roger Weir »

Just tried this feature today and get the following;
Streaming server started, web server address is http://#error or http://localhost:51000
Streaming server failed to start

and trying to access via VLC fails. This seems to have been noted as a bug in September, is there any progress or am I doing something wrong.

No, it's a new error. First of all, please try to set your IP address manually in program preferences and see if error goes away.

I got the same problem, so I will continue using this post in order to avoid duplicated ones.

I have tried using manual IP address in preferences. I put my IP address 192.168.0.14 in "Use specific IP address" and I continue having the same error. I've tried to reboot the program and the same.

Someone has new ideas?

Thank you

I tried everything I could imagine. It doesn't work with Auto, it doesn't work with the IP of my Mac.
Firewall is off. Port is open in Router. I tried different BR-discs, I even tried a dvd.
I'm running Snow Leopard with all updates.

Everything I get is the following :
DEBUG: Code 4294967093 at 5CaoeN$Y\/~UaZap]n:213132123
DEBUG: Code 0 at 5CaoeN$Y\/~UaZap]n:29395586
Streaming server started, web server address is http://#error or http://localhost:51000
DEBUG: Code 4294967093 at 5CaoeN$Y\/~UaZap]n:213132123
DEBUG: Code 0 at 5CaoeN$Y\/~UaZap]n:29395977
Streaming server failed to start
I tried starting it via makemkvcon but got the exact same error.

Hope you'll have a clue how to fix this.

Thanks

Hello!

Nobody has an idea about what is happening? I'll be glad of been able to use this amazing program but I'm not able to start the streaming. Nobody can help me with that? I can't find a clue to continue.

Thank you and happy new year.

Finally got my MacMini 3,1 this days

Fresh installed SnowLeopard with all updates. Plex, EyeTV, RemoteBuddy, VLC and MakeMKV.
Nothing else.

The streaming feature now works fine without any problems !

As the MacMini is my new media center for me everything is ok,
I don't care if it's running on my iMac anymore :D

@waji666: I have got the same problems that can you read in the post of flowjoe. I'm not able to run the streaming. I've tried to open the makemkv, I've tried also with makdemkvcon and the same. It seems that flowjoe hasn't this problems with a new Mac Mini so it seems that is something related with the SO. I've got Snow Leopard 10.6.5 just updated. I've set the IP address in the preferences and nothing.

@flowjoe: It seems that it's something related with the system. Because it works with a fresh SO. But. what's exactly the problem?

@flowjoe

Could you describe exactly, step by step, what you do to stream content?

My setup is about 4 months old with a mid-2010 Mac Mini (2.4GHz) + all the latest Snow Leopard updates and I've had no success streaming contents from a Blu Ray disk to Plex. Streaming to VLC results in extremely choppy sound and no video.

1.) Open Disc in MakeMKV as usual
2.) Hit the stream button
3.) Opened the Url in Safari : http://localhost:51000
4.) Navigated in Safari to the m2ts of your choice
5.) Copied the Url of the m2ts Hyperlink
6.) Open up VLC
7.) ?+N (Apple + N / Open Network)
8.) Insert Url
9.) Have Fun

I tried it with "Dead Men Running". The first 10 oder 20 seconds it was stuttering, but then it was ok.
My MacMini is a late 2009 with 2,26GHz and 2GB RAM.
I will increase buffer next time to avoid stuttering

I've got the solution!!
It was a really stupid thing as usually happens. I was running a DLNA server: Eyeconnect from Elgato.I just stopped the server and Makemkv worked perfectly. I will have to stop the Eyeconnect when I want to see my Blu-rays and then start it when I want to see the multimedia content of my computer on my TV.

I hope it will help the other guys with this problems.

Thank you.

Bummer! The instructions given above don't work for me! I wonder what is different in our setups.

What versions are you guys using? For me, it's VLC 1.1.5, makemkv 1.6.3.

Even with a saved mkv file, VLC struggles on the Twentieth Century Fox logo at the beginning of Avatar.
