I've been looking, but am missing something, so was hoping someone could point the way...
Trying to flash an LG BD-RE WH16NS60 with stock Rev 1.03 firmware dated 2020-05-08 (I converted the 2120 to 2020) to the correct MK version to gain UHD access from MakeMKV.
The LG UHD drive is in one of the enclosures that is said to allow firmware flashing, a NexStar DX NST-536S3-BK.
I'm using SDFtool Flasher v1.2.0, and have downloaded the mk-firmware-pack-20200720 firmware.
I run MakeMKV (registered) in admin mode, and run SDFtool Flasher in admin mode as well.
In SDFtool, I select the LG drive, select the "WRITE Firmware" radio selection button, click on "Select Firmware...", and navigate to the
mk-firmware-pack-20200720/HL-DT-ST/WHN16NS60/ directory, and select the "HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH14NS40-NS50-1.05-NM00900-212005061444.bin" binary file. Then I select "Open", select the "enc?" option since the is the first firmware flash to MK, and since MakeMKV says the firmware on the drive is original still.
I click the "START" button, and every time, it gives me a popup window saying, "ERROR: Command produced error code 0x8f056103".
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong here? I've searched, but could have easily missed the info being somewhat new to flashing these.

I have to ask, why are you trying to flash NS40 1.05 firmware to your NS60? You should always flash the MK equivalent of the current encrypted firmware (so WH16NS60 1.03 --> WH16NS60 1.03 MK)GeekElectro wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 9:16 pmI've been looking, but am missing something, so was hoping someone could point the way...

Since WH16NS60 1.03 is an encrypted firmware, you should:
Step 1: Flash WH16NS60 1.03 from the MK firmware pack with the "enc" box checked.
Step 2: Now flash whatever firmware you want to use. ("enc" no longer needs to be checked.)
Cheers

Thank you for replying!MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Wed Nov 04, 2020 4:17 amI have to ask, why are you trying to flash NS40 1.05 firmware to your NS60? You should always flash the MK equivalent of the current encrypted firmware (so WH16NS60 1.03 --> WH16NS60 1.03 MK)

Two things: 1) I apparently copied the wrong firmware text when I was making my original post, but actually was trying to flash the appropriate WH16NS60 1.03 MK firmware. Sorry about that. 2) I ran across another post which I missed previously, detailing the 0x8f056103 error.
In that post, it indicated it was because a disc was in the UHD blu ray drive. I had to "duh" myself after reading that.
I do appreciate the effort to help! If I had just kept going on my own before bothering someone here, it would have been taken care of.
I was able to flash the correct firmware, once I removed the disc from the drive. Hopefully, others will run across my post, and find the obvious solution to the error.
A suggestion... it would be handy if the SDFTool could be updated to have the warning plainly state, "Please remove disc from drive before flashing!", or some such direction. However, it is great to have such a handy tool in the first place, and kudos for providing us with it!
