CSI Bluray

#1 Post by ranger671 » Mon Oct 05, 2020 10:14 pm

I'm having problems ripping CSI - s01d02 title 04. I have ripped every other title on every disc for the entire set except this one. I have verified that the other titles play fine. What I am receiving is this:

AV synchronization issues were found in file '/video/tv/CSI/CSI - s01ed2_t04.mkv' (title #5)

Failed to save title 4 to file /video/tv/CSI/CSI - s01ed2_t04.mkv
0 titles saved, 1 failed

Now the fun part. I tried this on three drives with the same results. Thinking I had a bad disc, I got my hands on another copy of the disc.... and received the EXACT same error on the EXACT same title. And I mean exact. offset #'s and everything are an EXACT match between the two discs. This has got to be some sort of pressing or mastering error or possibly copy protection due to the repeatability between discs and drives.

Any thoughts/help would be greatly appreciated.

Update 19:08 - I noticed 1.15.3 was available and attempted with no change. Previous attempt was with 1.15.2.

Posted the same problem couple of years ago, both a Canada disc and a USA disc. There is a mastering error or something of the sort at play. I eventually copied disc to hard drive then decoded it that way.

Thanks for the reply Krawk. I followed your lead and made a backup of the disc and performed a stream dump creating an mts data file. It still glitched early in the video at the point of the issue. I still would have liked a check box to ignore the corrupt area and just grab the data that's there.

What I mean is that I dragged and dropped the files from the disc to the hard drive, then pointed MakeMKV to the hard drive. I kept getting a HASH error every time I tried directly from the disc, even with Any DVD ahead of MakeMKV.
If you get an error doing what I suggest, have MakeMKV look at the disc first, then go to your Windows Explorer Window and copy the files. It somehow unlocks the ability to copy the files, but somehow leaves them encrypted.

Krawk, I appreciate the followup, but I'm on Linux not Windows.
