I am currently unable to rip Closed Captions from DVDs. I've tried on Windows 10, Linux Mint 20, and Linux Mint 18.
The Windows 10 and Mint 18 have been set up and working in the past, but now will not produce a separate srt file for the ripped closed caption.
Closed Caption extraction not working
Re: Closed Caption extraction not working
I didn't think it was possible to produce a .srt file with MakeMKV. I thought one always had to use mkvextract and then convert if necessary.
Re: Closed Caption extraction not working
Mike added the use of CCEXTRACTOR to convert the CC text to an SRT subtitle a few versions back. It has problems, though - some disks claim to have CC's, but don't really, and CCEXTRACTOR will "hang" on those disks for 10-20 minutes, trying to figure that out. Eventually the rip WILL work, but it looks like it's crashed.
You have to deselect the not-there CC track to "fix" it.
