Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Hey all, I am thinking of getting a Firestick4k just so I can play my DV Rips since my TV media player is bit finicky when it comes to playing them. I just have a few concerns/questions before I pull the trigger:
Will Kodi+Exoplayer be enough to run DV rips on it and does it support refresh rate matching? I really dont like using Plex cause I have never got it to work.
Are there any specific profiles that it supports like Atv Profile 5?
Is it able to run FEL DV or just MEL?
Is there an option to stream files over the network? since i dont like the idea to load files on external every time i want to watch something.
Are there currently any color space issue (like shield) or any audio sync problems?
Thanks in advance

yep, there is the red blocs artifacts issue and the colors are sligthly off compared to the x700.DaMacFunkin wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 6:41 am
Hi, I know it isn’t entirely possible to be technically correct with external screen shots but I would say the x700 is cooler, is that what you are seeing?

I think all the files produced by @yusesope tool are correct. the problem is the Shield.

Guys, since MP4 files dont play nice with Subs, is it possible to add downloaded subtitles on modified version of Kodi Exoplayer on Firestick4k? Please reply thanks

Here are 5 more comparisons between the Shield and the Sony x700. The file tested is a profile 04.06 single track BL+EL+RPU.
But this time, instead of using my camera, a friend of mine(thank's manix) provided me two samples tone mapped to SDR from Dolby Vision made using a capture card (pro-res HQ) and the vertex 2 which allow the DV tone mapping.
This method shows the difference more accurately than camera pictures because exactly the same tone mapping is applied to both players and no clipping nor off looking colors usually introduced by the camera. it allows me to compare a lot more frames quickly too.

I also asked him for the same comparison but with a FEL movie and also a sample from the firestick TV

I wouldn’t jump too quickly, I have Zidoo Z9X as well as Shield and in my limited testing on the Zidoo the colours look more over saturated than on my Oppo Clone - which is amazingly natural.SamuriHL wrote: ↑Thu Oct 08, 2020 1:09 amExactly!RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 07, 2020 11:32 pm

I haven’t tried any 8.1 files yet though.

Hi, just a quick Q, if I have a profile 7 mkv made with 1.53, can it then be coverted to 8.1 or do need to re-rip the disk, running out of space with all these ripped files on my laptop. Thank you.

Nice work as always on the comparisons! But just curious on why profile 8 videos were used? especially ones with an EL that it's not supposed to haveRESET_9999 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 08, 2020 2:57 amHere are 5 more comparisons between the Shield and the Sony x700. No other tool currently exists other than makemkv that will create DV mkvs. Mkvtoolsnix will preserve the DV metadata, but cannot create or do any conversions, so I don't think you'll be able to do any profile/video conversions after the fact if makemkv is unable to do so in the first place.DaMacFunkin wrote: ↑Thu Oct 08, 2020 6:46 amHi, just a quick Q, if I have a profile 7 mkv made with 1.53, can it then be coverted to 8.1 or do need to re-rip the disk, running out of space with all these ripped files on my laptop. Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Please and you drove some DV mkv transferred to FID with FEL to MEL. I have Zidoo and I'm not doing well yet. Everything is fine on the shield.DaMacFunkin wrote: ↑Thu Oct 08, 2020 6:40 amI wouldn’t jump too quickly, I have Zidoo Z9X as well as Shield and in my limited testing on the Zidoo the colours look more over saturated than on my Oppo Clone - which is amazingly natural.SamuriHL wrote: ↑Thu Oct 08, 2020 1:09 amExactly!RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 07, 2020 11:32 pm

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
sorry for the late response, this TS file is an original untouched demo. Remuxing that file with any version of tsmuxer will probably make it unsupported by your device.Koceens wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2020 12:22 pmHello,
Can you please share steps you made to create this file? And what software versions you used (TS muxer)?
I have tried many times to create a working .ts file from my UHD Bluray, but it does not play on my Hisense U8QF via USB. Says file is not supported.
Your file works and triggers DV.
From all the methods described in this long conversation only yusesope's method is working for me and then muxing it with mp4muxer. Plays on my TV with all DV profiles. The problem is that with this method I don't know how to encode subtitles from .srt file. My TV doesn't read external subtitles from a separate file in mp4 container for some reason. I would really appreciate if someone could help with suggestion on this matter.
Thank you in advance!

he's getting a black screen on the Firestick TV, sorry because it has probably been answered a million times but can someone tell me what file does work on the firestick?
