Great news. Any idea how long it'll take to make it to the public Google Play release?SamuriHL wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 7:27 pmHoly balls! That's fantastic news right there!!!!!!!jakuboleksy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 3:49 pmhttps://forums.plex.tv/t/release-announ ... 154124/362

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
That's anyone's guess. I've never been able to get the beta of plex on my SHIELD so I'm probably going to have to wait, as well.
Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
Plex is already up to 1.20.xxxxjakuboleksy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 3:49 pmhttps://forums.plex.tv/t/release-announ ... 154124/362

Are you confusing this with MakeMKV 1.15.2 or 1.15.3?
Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
Minimum supported versions means that any version older than stated will no longer be compatible. Meaning if you're running Plex Media Server 1.15.0, then the client will not be compatible.Rumourd wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 11:27 pmPlex is already up to 1.20.xxxxjakuboleksy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 3:49 pmhttps://forums.plex.tv/t/release-announ ... 154124/362

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
Of course, all good. The Plex version numbering being so close to MakeMKV threw me off at first too.Rumourd wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 11:45 pmThank you for clarifying for a dolt.
Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
I tested all of my Dolby Vision encoded MKVs (ripped using MakeMKV 1.15.2) and all of them triggered DV on my LG B7 OLED being fed by a 2019 Nvidia Shield Pro!
However, the majority of them would first trigger HDR instead of DV. I would then hit “back” on the remote, start the movie again, and then DV would be enabled. This sometimes took as many as 6 tries in re-starting the movie to get DV to “stick.” I could then come back to the same movie I had problems with and DV would trigger the first time.
Full List:
1917
Alita: Battle Angel
Anna
Annihilation
Apocalypse Now
Aquaman
Atomic Blonde
Bumblebee
Casino Royale
Doctor Sleep
The Evil Dead
Evil Dead 2
First Man
Gemini Man
Ghost in the Shell
Hereditary
Hunter Killer
It Chapter 2
John Wick 3
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Knives Out
The Matrix
Matrix 2
Matrix 3
Midway
Mission: Impossible 1-6
Mother!
Pacific Rim: Uprising
Pitch Black
Quantum of Solace
A Quiet Place

Skyscraper
Spectre
Spider-man: Far from Home
Spider-man: Homecoming

War of the Worlds
Westworld (Seasons 1 and 2)
The Witch
The Wizard of Oz

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
How do you load the beta Plex? Just from the store or do I have to do something different?
Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
You'll have to download the .apk file manually (they said you have to be a Plex Pass member in order to download it). If you're using a Shield you'll want the "arm64v8a" version. Then you'll need to get the file onto your Shield somehow. You can plug in a USB drive, or if you install something like the FX app https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... nextapp.fx which will let you load files from the network. Once you do, you just open the .apk file and it'll walk you through installation.jakuboleksy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 07, 2020 3:46 amHow do you load the beta Plex? Here's a video showing you how to enable "web" mode in FX so you can download the file on your computer and then drag/drop it into the Shield: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-M4MTmE83pw

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
Sorry if it's been asked before, but can I remux existing MKV files with the DV layer to trigger DV in Plex, and if so how?
Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
If you ripped the MKV using MakeMKV 1.15.2 or higher they should be good to go! If you ripped them in 1.15.1 then I think you can open it with 1.15.3 and output it back to a new file and it'll fix the metadata to match the correct spec (the same thing 1.15.2 would have created).
Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
This only works on Plex through NVIDIA Shield, correct? Because I feed my Laptop Windows 10 to Plex solely, and nothing triggers the DV, so far.Cannikin wrote: ↑Wed Oct 07, 2020 3:46 pmIf you ripped the MKV using MakeMKV 1.15.2 or higher they should be good to go!
