Hi guys, I finally managed to get DV played on my Shield as shown on my Vertex2 (LLDV). However, when I used MediaInfo app to check the mkv ripped movie there isn’t any ‘Dolby Vision’ displayed under HDR format. I downloaded some .ts and .mp4 DV demo clips and MediaInfo did show them as ‘Dolby Vision’.

Any guys here using any other apps in Mac to check the details of the DV mkv files and state that they are of DV format? Thanks

this has been addressed multiple times in this thread.
mediainfo has not yet been updated to detect the dolby vision information in MKV files.

HOL-EE CRAP IT WORKED

The very first time I started a DV movie it showed the badge for about 5 seconds and then the screen flashed and the HDR badge came up instead. I exited out and went back in and it stayed DV for a good 15 seconds, but I had to get to a meeting for work so that's the longest I could test.

I'll try watching some harder stuff (like Gemini Man in 60fps) later and post some updates!

On the Firestick 4K, the Plex app crashes when backing out. Don't have a Plex forum account otherwise I'd comment there.
For playback (makemkv samples):
Profile 5 > nothing triggered
Profile 7, MEL > HDR triggered
Profile 7, FEL > Dolby Vision triggered, black screen
Profile 8.1 > HDR triggered

So same behavior as ExoPlayer for FEL, except it only plays P7 FEL correctly..
On yusesope's ExoPlayer apk, they all trigger Dolby Vision.

There is a tool to convert FEL to MEL

Totally aware, but that's not the point. It should at least trigger Dolby Vision on all of the samples.

Just buy a Shield, it plays any form of single layer Dolby Vision you can throw at it and it also supports TrueHD Atmos.
