Fake cells?

#1 Post by IronRod » Mon Sep 28, 2020 4:55 pm

Using v1.15.2. I have a DVD (Hot Hula) that reports the following repeated 54 times and finally reports "Failed to open disc". Any suggestions are appreciasted.

Code: Select all

CellWalk algorithm failed (structure protection is too tough?), trying CellTrim algorithm
Fake cells occupy 78% of the title - assuming fake title
I then tried to open it manually and found this:

Code: Select all

But attempts to open any of these (eg., "2", "3", etc.) report the same error of "fake cells".

I then ran MakeMKV with the log and have attached it here. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've never seen a disc report this error let alone the entire disc be this way and fail to open.

I'm assuming you didn't try every single one...

In theory one of them should be correct - do you know what the runtime is supposed to be?

For example, I'm seeing only 2 that have a 1 hour runtime:

37: 5/5 - 8 chapter(s) 1:00:34 14 cell(s)
39: 5/7 - 8 chapter(s) 1:01:38 14 cell(s)
Using: ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.00

Isn't there a way in the command line to just try save every title into a file?

No, I didn't. I tried the first few and kept getting that same error. Having no experience with this "fake cells" error, I wasn't sure if that would be productive.

The runtime of the actual video is 49:10 -- that which is shown on the majority of the entries. Pretty painful going through the "Open manually...", wait for it to get the list, try to open it, fail, repeat.

I guess I can go through all 99 and see what happens

Maybe you can give https://de.dvdfab.cn/passkey-lite.htm a try to see, if it can break through that protection.
