Anyone else having trouble ripping the standard best buy version? Mine gets to about half way and stops. Tied 3 times. All 4 of the hitchcock movies went flawlessly

I don't understand how they could be so bad I thought they were just a rebadged LG WH16 drive?Billycar11 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 9:01 pmBecause that's how they fail they slow to a crawl in the middle of a rip
I've got one as well as an LG drive, Guess it's just a case of waiting for the Asus one to fail then

The lgs fail in a different way they don't usually slow to a crawl they will just throw random read errors I know they are same drive but the firmware acts different when it his errors Asus seems to try it best to read it really slow the lg fw just kinda says oh well here is some junk

Re: Home Alone 4K UHD
Yeah, I have the BW-16D1HT on the original 3.01 firmware and this behavior has become more common as the drive gets older it seems. The drive is still incredibly reliable for standard BDs though. I also have a BD-RE BU40N (1.03 MK) and a BD-RE WH16NS60 (1.02 MK), and they both are my go-to drive choices for UHD discs. Much more reliable.Billycar11 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 12:31 pmThe lgs fail in a different way they don't usually slow to a crawl they will just throw random read errors I know they are same drive but the firmware acts different when it his errors Asus seems to try it best to read it really slow the lg fw just kinda says oh well here is some junk
