As I said mp4 files do not support pgs subtitles so there is no way, at moment, to know if they are supported in exoplayer/firestick. I think we must wait for Tsmuxer m2ts format played via exoplayer to test this functionality.
Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Well fukk me..
I've created four different versions of Gemini Man.
All with the same source files:
BL_EL_RPU.hevc (created with -mux -fel_to_mel as I described a few posts back)
Gemini.ac3 (the core ac3 5.1 audio taken from the Blu-ray disc)
Now I've muxed four versions with mp4muxer with only difference in --dv-profile being 4, 6, 7 (as recommended by yusesope) and 8.
Producing:
Profile 04:
Profile 06:
Profile 07:
Profile 08:
Now watch this:
https://streamable.com/4v5u4k
As you can see they all trigger DV.
But only the one being profile 08 (the last one) plays OK.
Why is that?
Perhaps profile 8 should be used for all Blu-ray DV rips then?
I'm going to try on Shield TV and also test all 4 of them with Emby client to see how well they play.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Profile 8 is not supposed to have an EL according to Dolby specs. If whatever you're using for playback is following dolby standards, then it may just be ignoring the EL when it encounters a profile 8 video.MastaG wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 6:49 pmWell fukk me..

That makes sense.. but they're virtually the same.
I cannot spot any differences.
Also for a MEL movie what does the enhancement layer contain?
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
But firestick can play m2ts?
Edit: I read It can
If Tsmuxer add this, pls try .pgs subtitles
Thank you

That's not really trueyusesope wrote: ↑
Don't worry: your M9702 doesn't need a "conversion" FEL -> MEL.
Oppo can't playback single track dual layer files, but it can profile 5 single track single layer MEL files (BL+RPU, without EL).
So as someone just asked above: why don't you try to create BL+RPU instead of BL+EL+RPU? What's the reason behind this? Thanks

Does it play on the FireStick and x700?
Thanks for your patience!

fel_to_mel_test_2.mp4 (your test file)= Black screen, time does not advance.
No luck for me with profile 7 .
Profile 5 and 8 are not good in this case! These are files with Enhancement Layer and profile 5/8 does not have this layer. In addition, the HW DV decoder uses different decoding modes depending on the profile!
I have already answered HERE
My idea does not include any video encoding but only a modification of the RPU units. It is therefore normal that the size is the same.spezi wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 1:40 pmIf I use FEL -> MEL then the resulting file size is the same as without that conversion. Is that right?
Normally MEL EL-file sizes are much lower.
Parameter -mode 2 doesn't delete EL data. Getting not a file BL+RPU.hevc, only BL+EL+RPU.hevc with similar size.
I'm using profile 5 on Windows 10 using mp4muxer. Only this works.
Don't worry, "-mode 2" works as it should. "BL+EL+RPU.hevc" is just a name like any other: if you use the command line you can assign it whatever name you like!
Profile 5 has a proprietary color space and it is not currently possible to convert a UHD-BD to Profile 5.
Yep.
It is for those devices which are unable to play FEL movies
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
@Yusesope
The new file fel_to_mel_test_3 plays correctly in firestick. No problem at all.
In sony x700 it plays with the same behaviour as the m2ts file I tested yesterday:
It starts as SDR and Dolby vision is triggered a couple of seconds after the play starts.
There is some heavy flickering here and there. Suddenly, for a fraction of a second, the colour changes, for example from red to blue, and then returns to red. This happens on the Despicable me title which is in red originally. But again this happens randomely on the entire test file, same as the m2ts I tested yesterday.

Maybe next weekend I'll try to come up with some new ideas !
I'm sorry but the problem in your case is that your TV doesn't support files with profile 7.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
@Yusesope
Update on m2ts test files.
In my previous post I have reported the problems playing the m2ts files (originated from Yusesope fel_to_mel_test2 and 3) played in sony x700 (a couple of seconds delay to trigger dolby vision and heavy flickering with random changes in colours).
I have redone these 2 m2ts files but, this time, I have used an old version of tsmuxer that generates profile 7 (used by me from long time to backup my UHD bluray discs) and not the actual last nightly.
The result is that both files (test2 and 3) play flawlessly in x7oo and all problems are gone.
Hope this can help.

@ragico I don't know, but maybe if you post the exact version it can help more to @yusesope
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I read somewhere in this thread that some people triggers dolby vision in mx player, how? I have HW+ on and the max I get is HDR10+.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
@ragico I can't download from your Mega link. Please give me a valid link and I will look at difference in outputs of this and latest tsMuxer version.
