were can i find the actuall SDF.bin (for windows and ubuntu)to download or isn´t it necessary any more?

The file itself should be automatically downloaded when you start a rip; On disk, it is added to _private_data.tar in your MakeMKV data directory.

If you want to manually download it, https://makemkv.com/sdf.bin will fetch it.

Be aware that sdf.bin does not contain the hashed keys for UHD decoding; it DOES contain the current link to it, though.

Hey guys, sorry to resurrect this thread.

I'm having a similar problem with the automatic SDF download failing.

I've downloaded the sdf.bin into the data directory for the application (I am on MacOS Monterey) but still see this error this error when I open the application.

Am I missing a step?

Download privatedata.tar too it won't fix the failed download but it will get you up and running linked in below in my guide

I perused your thread and not sure I have a good handle on why making this change might be necessary.

Preferably I would find out what the security issue is that's preventing the SDF from downloading... I use a pi-hole for DNS resolution on my internal network and also an enterprise grade firewall. Ideally I would find out what the destination IP is for downloading the files and simply white list it in all of my security areas....

Is there some other issue with MacOS now that is driving this behavior?

No that really does limit it to your network setup you can white list the IP but it's always changing I believe along with the URL
