Used v1.0.0.1 just now to flash my drive, since I could find all the firmware but was struggling to find instructions on how to flash the drive. This was a real lifesaver, thank you! Worked like a charm.

One suggestion would be to have the outcome message appear as a modal pop-up. The first time it was unsuccessful, I think because I enabled enc and didn't need it, but because the window wasn't in the foreground I didn't see what happened.

When trying to update my drive for the first time I am getting the error in the attached file. I can dump the firmware. I've tried with and without enc enabled.

Ok. Please don't flash your drive to NS60 1.03. if it came with 1.02 flash NS60 1.02 MK. 1.03 is not better in any way. Also, "enc" is not required since your drive did not come with encrypted firmware.
Cheers :D

That did it. I didn't know that the older firmware was in a different location than the latest. I only found 1.03 and figured that's what I needed. It is now flashed and currently ripping a 4k bluray. Thanks!

I need to add that to my tool as well. But I don't think it's super straight forward and potentially dangerous. I don't have a drive to test it on either. But we really should have that in your tool.

I have the command ready to go but I do not have an old NS40 to test it with. @SamuriHL, @Billycar11, do either of you guys?

I tried it with a NS55 flashed with BU40N and it doesn't work. I get an error. See here: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=23023#p95844 I'm waiting on a response from Mike... He does say that the command should work for the old NS40's.
Cheers :D

@Billycar11 @jonghotti @SamuriHL

According to Mike, it should work for slim drives flashed to desktop firmware and the old NS40 / ASUS BW-16D1HT drives.

I tried it on a desktop drive flashed to slim firmware (BH16NS55 flashed to BU40N 1.00) and get an error when trying to recover to NS55 firmware (or any other firmware). I was hoping it would work this way too but no luck so far. Hoping Mike responds soon.

Anyway, if/when one of you guys end up with an old NS40, BW-16D1HT or a slim drive flashed to desktop firmware, let me know and I'll send the app to you to test.
Cheers :D

I'm getting a .NET error when I launch the program on two different Windows 10 machines that I have tried. Any idea what I can do? I've tried the simple Googled fixes but with no joy.

Ensure that MakeMKV is installed and that you have the latest version of the .net framework installed.

Thanks. Trouble is you never know which version of .NET framework may be out of date, Microsoft just has too many variants and no easy way to tell if they are all up to date. They really need to unify that a bit better.

In any event I got it working. Of all the crazy things, I plugged the drives into my NexStar DX NST-53053 USB enclosure and connected it to my Windows 10 VM running as guest on unRAID Slackware and it f---ing worked that way. This was the most construed approach and I thought the chance of it working were close to zero, but there it is.

In any event, I made four WH14NS40 1.05's into four Asus BW-16D1HT 3.10's. They now rip UHD great.

Thanks for the new tool!

Kind regards,
craigr
