Error downgrading WH16NS60 1.02

#1 Post by landshark68 » Tue Sep 08, 2020 5:11 pm

I just picked up a WH16NS60 that I am trying to downgrade to a compatible firmware. The drive came with 1.02 and I think I need to be installing 1.00 onto it (at least that is the only rom I can find for this model in the Downgrade Firmware pack. Running this on Win10 (patched to latest) in an Admin powershell prompt

PS C:\program files (x86)\makemkv> .\makemkvcon64.exe f --all-yes -d T: rawflash -i "C:\Users\john\Downloads\Downgrade Enabled Firmware V.2\DE_LG WH16NS60_1.00.bin"

Reading input file C:\Users\john\Downloads\Downgrade Enabled Firmware V.2\DE_LG WH16NS60_1.00.bin
Flashing flags = 0x0 : 0 0 0 0 : ---- ---- ---- ----
Current Drive ID: HL-DT-ST_BD-RE__WH16NS60_1.02_211810291936_XXXXXXXXXXX
Ready to write drive flash memory. (auto confirmed)
Operation started: Sending flash image to drive
98% .................................................
Write DRAM NG 05/26/03

Command produced error code 0x8f052603

I have also included a screen image of what Makemkv shows for the drive.

From what I can see, it looks like I dont have an encrypted firmware, so any idea why the flash command is coming back with an 8f052603 error code ? (and yes, my BR drive is on T: )

I will appreciate any insight/suggestions on where I have messed up on this (or if my understanding is off). Thanks. :)

You can't directly flash it to NS60 1.00. Please flash NS60 1.02 from the MK firmware pack first. Then flash NS60 1.00.
Cheers :D

Ok, maybe I am missing something here. The pack link I found was called Downgrade Enabled Firmware V.2.zip, and the only WH16NS60 in it is the 1.0 firmware. Are you saying to use this one then even though it is labeled as NS40? DE_flash_HL-DT-ST_BD-RE_WH16NS40_1.02_NS50.bin ?

Nevermind - I found that there is a second firmware pack in viewtopic.php?f=19&t=19113 that has the 1.02. Thanks :)
