Possible Flash error

Post by Markdotjames »

I just purchased a new wh16ns40 and think i may have flashed it with the WH14 firmware using the SDFtool, is that possible to do? can it be checked? if i did can it be rectified?

It did finish and say it was successful by the way.

many thanks

Mark

Just for info the two discs i have just tried both came up with the following error:

M2TS hash check error
Almost each Blu-ray disc contains so called content hash file. Designed as part of AACS protection, this file has a very useful property exploited by MakeMKV - having this file it is possible to verify that M2TS file loaded from the disc is not corrupt. If present on the disc, MakeMKV computes and compares hashes of M2TS files automatically. When hashes do not match, you get this error.

Hash check error essentially means that the drive was unable to read the file from the disc, and what more, instead of raising the read error it silently returned corrupted data. Getting this error usually means a failing Blu-ray drive.

One worked one failed.

Your discs are defective or dirty or your drive is defective

when i try to reflash using the correct file it states:

You cannot flash your drive to this firmware file directly, please select the appropriate MK firmware file for your drive and try again.

I am trying to flash this file:

HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS40-NS50-1.05-NM00900-212005061440.bin

Don't go to WH16NS40 go to WH16NS60! As I said and as my guide says. If the Marty's sdf tool won't let you do it with the cmd and my video or contact me about a remote flash.
But again this is not going to fix your hash errors

I wouldn't worry about going back to stock fw they are not going to check.
It might be a good idea to check with another new disc to make sure it's the drive

Yes you can email me anytime for a remote flash.

Went through this exercise just yesterday... cross-flash WH16NS40 > WH16NS60 (x2).

'sdftool_flasher.exe' refused, as the OP reported, for some reason

ASUS_ODD_FW_Changer_(Modified).exe, on the other hand, worked 1st try. YMMV

trust me i have been there before the drive will get read errors again if the discs were new clean and scratch free.
or if you cleaned the discs in between the flashing that may have been your problem all along
