Yeah yes probably buying returns or something from somewhere and someone flashed then and returned it and he sold it.

As you said at least it's not a complete waste you got a functional drive out of it after bit of work and hoop jumping through I'm actually surprised you got through it most people can go beyond the ide mode step because their PC is to new

It happened to me aswell, but I own more than one computer so it was not really a problem.
