True. I am not holding my breath that the M9702 will get an update for DV mkv playback. Looking at adding a Shield to the collection. At the moment this looks like the best bet or most complete solution.
The 2019 Shield is awesome. Check my latest post on the "Dolby Vision and 1.15.1" thread. I got Plex to trigger Dolby Vision using the Kodi Add-on (it's Kodi running using the official Plex add-on) ... Atmos & Dolby Vision out of an MKV..... what a time to be alive!!!
I tried with kodi addon 0.2.1 but it only triggers hdr out of mkv

So 2 things:

Did you alter the XML file first and did you choose "Open In Exoplayer'?

You can make the APK the default player by following this post:

Then go through what I did on my post for Plex support in Kodi:

So I got the APK working on my 2019 nVidia Shield.

Today I got a brand new Sony Bravia X90H running Oreo. What are the odds this APK would work on this TV? LMAO

I've updated the files, now these are proper MKVs with audio.

If anyone has ever seen a Profile 9 file (h.264/AVC+DV) please let me know.

I've tried the P4 sample and it fails on Fire TV Stick 4K, so I assume it is FEL.

Bravia + Shield TV Pro (Exoplayer 01.08.2020)
All files plays in DV.

P7_FEL - "playback failed" at autostart, need to press Play in exoplayer.
P4_LG - don't like how this demo looks on Bravia (surfer, glass of shampaine, airplane and sunset scenes). Also double blue flickers just before "storytelling" scene (same with original .ts file). Could be Bravia thing, internal TV app (plex) plays this demo (ts) with wrong colors.

Also all files plays in HDR by plex
P5 plays in HDR with wrong colors as expected.

1.15.2 has the official support. Hopefully this means Plex can start looking at what it'll take to add support. :)
I can also contact Oppo on this. In the past, they have NOT implemented 'forced' subtitles because it was "not part of the official spec" - so DV being part of the spec, implement away fellas!
Side note --- is forced subs still not part of the spec?
Is there a link to the official specs so Oppo can get working on it?

Oppo is barely keeping the lights on at this point. Zero percent chance they implement any enhancements.

I agree with that. I find it very unlikely OPPO responds at all.

Oh they still have customer support for inquiries and warranty, but the engineers are long gone. So he would get an answer, just not the one he is hoping for.
