The Expendables
The Expendables keeps failing for me. Anyone else have this issue? I'll send the log when I get a chance.

Hi!
Are you attempting to do a full-disk Blu-ray backup or a movie-only .MKV?

Just the movie. It appears to open the disk but after a few minutes the rip fails.

Re: The Expendables
I asked because I had previously successfully made a full disc backup, using ONLY MakeMKV DIRECTLY (No additional programs running in background or foreground, such as DVDFab Passkey, AnyDVDHD, etc.).
Out of curiosity, I'm presently again using ONLY MakeMKV DIRECTLY to make a movie-only .MKV - using the slightly smaller (less than 2 hours, 15 chapters, 22.2Gb) title. The larger (over 2 hours) title is actually the "Bonus View" - "Ultimate Recon Mode".
Presently over 40% complete. I'll post back here when/if completed successfully.
You might want to try cleaning your disc...

Re: The Expendables - SUCCESSFUL
No problem creating a 17,250,205Kb .MKV ;>}

Re: The Expendables
I had a feeling there might be an issue with my setup. I recently did a reinstall and since then I've had a lot of trouble ripping movies. Even dvd's with DVDShrink have been an issue. Even successful rips have been stuttering. That's not just from MakeMKV. I normally rip blu-ray's with MakeMKV, shrink to a smaller h264 with Xilisoft and finally convert to WTV with VideoRedo.setarip_old wrote:I asked because I had previously successfully made a full disc backup, using ONLY MakeMKV DIRECTLY (No additional programs running in background or foreground, such as DVDFab Passkey, AnyDVDHD, etc.).

What is the format of the "WTV" files?I normally rip blu-ray's with MakeMKV, shrink to a smaller h264 with Xilisoft and finally convert to WTV with VideoRedo.
I ask because, depending on your response, you may be able to reduce the number of processes for your conversions...

Re: The Expendables
I would love to. I use WTV's with h264 and AC3. I have Xbox extenders on all my TV's so WTV offers the best compatiblity. I tried Auto Rip and Compress but did not have good luck with it.

My apologies, I must have recently been asleep at the wheel, as I wasn't aware that ".WTV" is actually a file format.
Are there any other formats you can use with your XBox extenders?

Re: The Expendables
WTV, DVR-MS and WMV are the only formats that fully support ff/rw. WMV is okay but I prefer WTV. DVR-MS only supports mpeg2.setarip_old wrote:My apologies, I must have recently been asleep at the wheel, as I wasn't aware that ".WTV" is actually a file format.

Re: The Expendables
By all means, if your preference is .WTV, continue to use it.
I thought you might want to see if you got better results by ultimately converting (via DVR-MS) to either MPEG2 or .WMV...

Re: The Expendables
Unfortunately MakeMKV and AnyDVD keep failing separately. Must be an issue with the disk, although it looks fine.

Re: The Expendables
This statement by you, coupled with the fact that I successfully processed the same Blu-ray as both a full disc backup and a movie-only .MKV, makes me almost certain that MakeMKV is not a culprit here.I had a feeling there might be an issue with my setup. I recently did a reinstall and since then I've had a lot of trouble ripping movies. Even dvd's with DVDShrink have been an issue. Even successful rips have been stuttering. That's not just from MakeMKV.
As an experiment, try doing a full disc backup using ONLY Make MKV (NO other programs such as DVDFab Passkey, AnyDVDHD, etc. running in either foreground or background). Then use this full disc backup as your source for DIRECTLY using ONLY MAKEMKV to generate a movie-only .MKV...

Re: The Expendables
The full disk backup finished, but said 3 of the 28 files failed. There is a MKV but it does not play. As I said the disk appears scratch free, but there has to be something wrong with it. I'll have to get another disk and try it again.setarip_old wrote:This statement by you, coupled with the fact that I successfully processed the same Blu-ray as both a full disc backup and a movie-only .MKV, makes me almost certain that MakeMKV is not a culprit here.I had a feeling there might be an issue with my setup.
