Problems with ripping a blu ray disc

#1 Post by GivenUpOnLife » Sat Jun 06, 2020 8:19 am

A relatively new Bluray disc that I ordered just arrived today and when I tried ripping the disc I encounter this:

Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:COPY PROTECTION KEY EXCHANGE FAILURE - AUTHENTICATION FAILURE' occurred while issuing SCSI command A30..00200740100720..0BD4461AD2F0543F9A127A1622B6CAB4D0F to device 'SPTI:\Device\CdRom0'

and it says that "This disc uses a newer version of AACS protection. Please let us know about it by visiting http://www.makemkv.com/a/?1MMkIPmUZxM+tv..." does this mean I have to wait for an update from MakeMKV but I'm quite confused since the disc information that is displayed on the app shows that the disc aacs version is 76 which the latest version of MakeMKV support.

But I'm quite new to ripping blurays and dvds so maybe I did something wrong?

The drive I'm using is BD-RW BDR-XD07B, which does not support LibreDrive I think.

Visiting the link or sending the .tgz file to svq@makemkv.com will help. Apparently, there is something about v76 AACS that not all disks use the same encryption. Some disks rip fine, others give errors. Getting more examples will help Mike.

With v1.15.x and later, if you have a LibreDrive-capable drive, new AACS versions can be dealt with through key updates. If your drive isn't compatible, you have to wait for the program to be updated.

So the only way this problem can be resolved if my drive does not support LibreDrive is to wait for an update? I have visited the link already, may I ask how often does MakeMKV updates and issues like these get resolved with a patch update?

Generally new versions come out "as needed". This issue with v76 AACS may push Mike to make an update "soon", but only he knows for sure.

Getting more examples of v76 that MakeMKV can't handle yet will help, I think.
