Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Dear all,

I'm using OPPO 205 and Sony X950G

I have a problem when playing Dolby Vision disc or MP4 muxed Dolby Vision files

How could we enforced film to full screen(No Black bar) when play back DV contains? It said this operation is not permitted when I pressed "Zoom" on the Oppo's remote

I could do full screen easily on HDR10 but not in Dolby Vision format, only Full screen Dolby Vision contain could (i.e BumbleBee, Transformer 4) I wish I could to do that for every Dolby Vision titles to enhance the movie viewing experience

How to we bypass this restriction? it could because of the metadata of second layer(1920*1080) of Dolby Vision contains prevent this to be happened, because muxing Dolby Vision using MP4 container is possible now, I would like to save hard disk space and get rid of black bar whenever possible, Does MakeMKV allow or maximise the full screen properties when muxing in MP4 format?

Hey Marty,

Yes sir, I tried both of your samples... So the DV profile 7 sample didn't work at all off the USB with a hard drive on my c9.

The profile 6 one just kept trying to do load and nothing... I think the best profile for direct play off an LG TV is DV profile 4. That works for the bluray rips too because it supports the 1:1/4 BL/EL ratio that comes on UHD bluray's with DV.

I'm able to get profile 04.06 DV files to play... again, the bitrate is just too high for the C9 SOC, so I'm trying to figure out a way to compress the BL without breaking the DV. Looks like I've got some good feedback - I'll report on this thread if I'm able to get it to work.

I'll also report on my full workflow (all software involved from backup using MKV to final output/playback).

For the 1st TS file, I just did the old "change the file extension" trick and that TS file has worked for you.



The 3rd file (other TS file) I created using yusesope's 0.0.4 tool and TS muxer but this file is not quite right. Mediainfo shows it as "Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.04.0A, BL+EL+RPU / SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible". I'm not sure why it comes out as 04.0A?? I wonder if there is any way to hex edit the 0A to 09??

since yesterday i'm using the M9702 player. The DV PQ is far better in 4K iso, comparing to the profile 7 mp4's. i'm curious what the reason is? are we getting fake DV with mp4? or is the PQ of the box so good?

So guys is MakeMKV preserving DV metadata/tracks/etc when remuxing into the mkvs? I want to be sure as I want a 1:1 copy of the movie (not the whole blu-ray) on my computer, I don't care if there is playing support or not, I just want all the data from the m2ts file in the mkv, is that possible/is that what currently MakeMKV is doing?

Ok I just tried that and the file still didn't play at the correct 60fps. I guess lower bitrate is the reason why your samples play smoothly then. It seems sadly the C9's processor or internal player is not powerful enough to handle high bitrate 60fps uhd movies.

Not sure about DV7 mp4's, but look back a couple pages at the comments made by @PapitaHD mentioning that he has not noticed any difference between the remuxes made using yusecope's tool and the bdmv iso with an m9702.

untouched ISO (or bluray disc) is the same as dual layer profile 7 mp4 (or TS). I've made a comparison a while ago with my Sony x700 and my C8 internal player, it's identical: no difference at all.
