Hi,
I have a Archgon MD-8102S-U3-BDRW since a week. I try to read blu ray disc UHD with makekv but without success, after +/- 15 sec I have the message 'no disc' (that's the same problem with windows, Ubuntu on a pc and Ubuntu on a notebook. Here are the infos of the drive :

Informations lecteur
Nom du lecteur SE : E:
Fabricant : HL-DT-ST
Produit : BD-RE BU40N
Révision : U100
Numéro de série : MZUJ3TJ0802
Date micrologiciel : 2118-10-23 11:29
Marqueurs d'encryptage bus : 1F
Version AACS la plus haute : 63
LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Aucun disque (no disc).

My request is perhaps at the wrong place.
I searched in the forum but there is so much informations that I don't know where to look.
The revision has a strange name in comparison with what I found.
Can somebody help me ?
Download the modified ASUS flasher + firmware pack from https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... 16&t=18933 and try the BU40N firmware in the MK folder. There are a few different BU40N firmwares, including a U101-MK in there. That might help you.
Cheers :D

Thanks for this solution.
After verification, I found a problem. The seller (via Amazon) sent me the MD-8102S-U3-BDRW (which does not read UHD blu ray) instead of the MD-8107S-U3-UHD. I am waiting for a solution from the seller.

Hello,
The supplier sent me the right model MD-8107S-U3-UHD. Here is the info:

I downloaded (Modified) ASUS ODD FW Changer (24.08.2019) + UHD Friendly Firmwares + Latest MK Pack but I don't know which is the right firmware among these (there is no one with revision 1.00) :
BU40N-B-Japan-Buffalo : HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-BN11-0M00300-211711201351 or HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-BU12-OM01001-211902230922

BU40N-R-Taiwan : HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.01-RM00000-211712221221
Bu40N-U : HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-U101-MM01201-211711301153.
I have an other question. Is it possible to take a copy of the current firmware before the replacement ?

None of those. Go back out of the MK folder. The file you are looking for is DE_LG_BU40N_1.00 and is located where the flasher is.

No, you are not able to backup the firmware (unless you try using the old dosflash method).
Cheers :D

Just wanted to give a big THANKS to this thread! Ordered a Archgon from Amazon (USA) and the flasher worked like a champ, using the DE_LG_BU40N_1.00 firmware as directed above. What a great community!

Hello,
I did the firmware update with "DE_LG_BU40N_1.00" without problem. 4K Blu-ray ripping works flawlessly. Many thanks for this wonderful work.

Has anyone successfully used this drive with the USB-C lead that is supplied with it?

I connected it to my iMac this way and it worked fine at first, but now it powers the drive, but it won't read discs.

When I swap back to the standard USB lead it works fine.

It's not a massive problem, but more convenient to leave the drive permanently connected to USB-C if I can.

My bluray drive is failing and I am thinking of getting the Archgon even though I have no 4K disks to date. I figure I should future proof myself. As to the flashing or this drive, can this be done on macOS or do you have to do it through Windows?

The flashers only work on windows.

Not all of them. if you're ok with command line then makemkv can flash the firmware.

How long is the flashing supposed to take? Mine is going on about 10 minutes.
