BP50NB40

Post by muffenboy2003 »

Is it possible to flash/crossflash this drive to be UHD compatible? I have been trying to flash it and it doesn't work.

Doubtful. It's too old of a design to be able to read UHD.

Darn, I saw someone post about doing it so I thought it might have been possible.

Check the manufacturing date; I've seen model numbers re-used for incompatible hardware. BUT! That model number on the LG site only says BDXL capable, 5 years ago...which isn't the same as UHD, which is at a higher density than the original BDXL.

The BP50NB40 SVC:NB50 can be flashed to MK firmware. It can then also be cross-flashed to a BP60NB10 using my hybrid (HBD) firmware which will then allow UHD ripping.

Use the search function looking for "hybrid firmware".
Cheers :D

I was trying this with both the modified asus flasher made for this and the other one. The Asus one gave me updating error 4 and the other one was stuck at 0% forever.

You must flash the drive to BP50NB40_1.02-MK first before you can use the hybrid firmware.

I was trying to flash to DE_LG_BP50NB40-NB50_1.01_MK_HBD. That was giving me the error.

That would have worked if your drive came with 1.01 but I'm pretty sure all the newer one's come with 1.02.

Glad you got it sorted!
