What are the differences between flashing to WH16NS60 1.03-MK and DE WH16NS40 1.02 NS50.
Sorry, I keep reading the post "Custom firmware pack with LibreDrive patches" where there's an explanation of DE and MK firmwares but still, I don't really get the "goal" of both types.
Also, I have a post in front of me as I'm writing this where Billycar11 wrote (on May 08 2020), "just flash WH16NS60 1.02 mk and done" speaking about the LG WH16NS40 1.04. Why would he recommend using "WH16NS60 1.02 mk" when you are recommending "WH16NS60 1.03-MK"?

Thanks!
If you flash NS60 firmware to your drive, it will not work with AnyDVD HD.
DE = Downgrade Enabled. These were around before the MK firmware and had just a single byte changed in the firmware to enable downgrading. The exception to this is that the newer drive firmwares (1.04, 3.10, 3.11 etc) disabled downgrading again, therefore, in your case, it is necessary to flash 1.04-MK first to re-enable downgrading. The DE firmwares have LibreDrive enabled.
MK = Mike's created firmware, which is based on the newer firmware versions that had removed downgrade ability (and sometimes UHD capability). These firmwares also enable LibreDrive.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

Ok, why did you suggested to me to use "WH16NS60 1.03-MK" when I clearly mentioned twice in my original post that I want to use it with AnyDVD HD? Sorry, I don't want to arrogant at all, just asking as my English is far from being perfect and it might be related to some bad interpretation on my side.
"Just flash WH14NS40 1.04-MK then flash either WH16NS60 1.03-MK or DE WH16NS40 1.02 NS50 and you are done."

My bad. I meant WH16NS40 1.03-MK. Post edited.

Why do you recommend MK firmware at all, I was just on the phone with Billycar11 and he told me MK firmware don't work with AnyDVD HD.
That's not completely true. I have used a BH16NS55 with 1.04-MK and a BH16NS55 cross-flashed to ASUS 3.10-MK with AnyDVD and they worked fine. The NS60 firmware, whether MK or DE does not work with AnyDVD.

Total newbie so I get lost and confused easily. I have an LG WH16NS40 drive with the 1.04 rom and want to be able to do UHD copies of my Blu Rays. What do I need to do to make it work?
I do have AnyDVD installed.
Marty’s been known to not read the question fully before answering, there was that time a couple months ago where he tells a guy who clearly had just bough a 1939 to flash it with 3.10 guy got pissed, cursed us, and left never to be seen again.

Hey, I did read the question. I just made a typo.
