Hey all, long lurker and first time poster.

Can anyone confirm if this actually works on LG's built in video player? I've muxed the files together and can confirm it has DV on the file but my LG B9 just won't play the file in either .tS or .m2ts file format.

I've put the file in my Plex library and the file does play on my wife's Huawei P20 phone using the Plex app.

Thanks.
If you only have your B9 as the playback device and nothing else, skip all of this and stick to the old mp4muxer method. Most of the effort here is done with the purpose of getting both dolby vision and atmos into the same container, and since the TV doesn't support truehd atmos anyways, it's pointless. Playback of DV TS/M2TS files on internal TV players has been a hit or miss at best. You might get files that play perfectly, might stutter throughout, or just not play with any video at all. It's a combination of mel/fel movies, tsmuxer version, dv profiles, and tv model that I'm not sure anyone has figured out a 100% working combination yet.

You missed the recent post...
Nope, I read it. it's still a crap shoot
I agree, the amount of people that I have read that have returned the tube version, not only Plex that suffers it’s Kodi, MrMC, anything that plays full 4K with HD audio.
I dont know if anyone else has noticed recently, but I do think there is some kind of memory issue with Plex. I've been re-ripping a lot of my collection lately into TS containers and usually do some playback spot checking after each file. After going through maybe 5-10+ titles in a session, I'd notice movies would start stuttering and my remote commands would stop working or become increasing delayed. I have the pro version so I can imagine that the tube version would get choked up even quicker. Maybe this will get fixed and the tube will be usable for 4k remuxes, but I personally wouldn't take that chance.

I'm noticing something similar too on the tube. I thought none of my dolby vision files were working because of stuttering but last night I tried the same files again after rebooting my Nas, plex server, and tube and was able to watch ready player one for an hour without stuttering.

I'm back to thinking the ts file method is solid and there is some major variability going on with the plex app.

PS. Why does the audio say "unknown" when I do the eac3to and tsmuxer method?

Regardless of which track I select during playback, it doesn't play 7.1 sound. The audio tracks clearly aren't being muxed properly, or at least not in a way the player can understand.
You should report that to the tsmuxer thread. I never had (nor heard) any issue with truehd+core atmos using any version of tsmuxer.
https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=176668&page=38

Just to be sure....could you please test this Atmos + dual layer DV sample: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ZHKRF ... D--zn3iFgK

The source is a full folder backup of the disc. If I use BDMV Modifier on it and then play it as if it were a physical disc (complete with menus) then everything plays perfectly - 7.1 audio works correctly and it plays without crashing. So, the source is fine. No MKVs involved.
if you can't play the dual-layer TS then you still can remux to a bluray structure(remove audio, menu, extra...) and play that on the oppo.
Is that normal that the .ts doesn't trigger Dobly Vision on both my LG C8 's embedded player and Plex app?
Or do we need a Shield to make it works.

Btw thanks guys for such a work.

The progress made to finally get DV on MKV is awesome but it won't do any good if you can't trust the color reproduction in the only device where you will be able to see for the moment, which is the Shield TV Pro 2019

Plex on LG Smart TV
Image

Plex on Nvidia Shield Pro 2019

The differences are subtle but are there, the girl has blushed cheeks indeed but on Smart TV is smoother and it blends better to the rest of the skin tones. On Shield the redish tones looks more saturated and isolated for the rest of the skin tones. Looks like a color compression problem.

Where could the problem be? I don't know where to put the issues, I can't be sure 100% of the rest of DV content (from Netflix or Disney+) is also affected so it doesn't look like a problem on the NVidia part.

Regards.

From tests elsewhere the colour issues and over saturation of reds are also present on Netflix. So it's probably the Shield.

tsMuxer dual-layer remux is by far the easiest and fastest solution but unfortunately, it only works(in DV) on the Sony x700 and the Oppo bluray player.

Thanks for the reply however through trial and error I may have found a solution that has worked so far and is a quicker method than the old mp4muxer method.

As far as I was aware the B9 definitely has atmos (however through the built in speakers it's kind of pointless) I have had it working with a few files and the only one where it has caused issues is 1917 which plays fine but if you skip or fast forward/rewind the sound continues to plays but the picture just freezes.

Here is the version of Tsmuxer which has proved to of been a success so far.

Yep it’s the shield and @baker99 even made a topic about it over at the nvidia forums:

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/fo ... by-vision/

It got an official response from nvidia but nothing much since then. Maybe it’s time for a bump with these pictures. Also just so happens that I made a DV/Atmos sample clip of this exact scene a while back:

While I can't answer your question, I can say all files I've created using the MakeMKV method don't work on my Panasonic TX55GZ950B's internal player. If I use yusecope's tool they normally work.
Hey check to see if this file works on your TV it's working on my LG B9 ;) Just a 2 minute test of The Last Jedi.

Hi Shawnc22,

Good to know, I've commented to the issue you refer and added a link to my post with the photos, would be nice if all of us who have the Shield 2019 could help by voting up for this issue, so we can be sure they take care of it.

Someone also commented on the forum 1 month ago saying that they are not using truly BT.2020 but BT.2100 with ICtCP which looks like another color space, similar but not the same.

Maybe you could also comment adding the url to the video you make.

Thanks.

You're thinking of the lossy Dolby Digital+ version of Atmos that's found in most streaming apps (Netflix, Disney+, etc). The TV cannot decode the lossless TrueHD version of Atmos that're found in most UHD discs. I have the same TV, and if you don't include any other audio tracks when you're muxing your TS, you'll get an audio not supported message on playback. Try this sample clip for instance:

Hey I was unaware of that probably as my old reciever only supports 5.1 so haven't been able to try it properly, you learn something new everyday. When I played your file of Doctor Sleep I didn't receive any sound at all either through the TV sound or If I tried to play it through my receiver is that correct?

Cheers.

Yep exactly because the TV is unable to decode the truehd atmos track. When you include additional audio tracks into your TS container, the TV will simply move onto the next playable one, but when the truehd atmos track is the only one in the container, you'll get the audio not supported message. Again, if your playback device is limited to the TV, I would still consider using mp4muxer and muxing in the video tracks separately as dv profile 7. It's a bit of extra work to downsample the audio file, but I think the most reliable method for tv playback.

Hey guys I tried to read as much as I could about this thread but I'm missing something. I want to play the movie with dolby vision on my gz1500 internal player, I don't need the lossless audio since It won't play but I keep it in the file for the future. My starting point is an mkv file containing two hevc, the main video and the dolby vision layer
https://www.makemkv.com/forum/download/ ... ew&id=2641
First I muxed It with the thd+ac3 in the correct version of ts muxer 4.06 fix. I played the obtained ts on tv and It showed the normal hdr10 image. On mediainfo:
https://www.makemkv.com/forum/download/ ... ew&id=2642
I saw that there's another method using yusesope's tool so I downloaded the v0.0.3, I extracted the two hevcs with Useac3to and I obtained two .h265 files. Then I ran the start_bl_el_rpu_builder.bat of yusesope and dropped the two files: the Bl analysis was 100% but the EL was stuck at 0.
I'm also a bit confused about the -mode 1 or 2, I didn't change anything. I also don't know if I have to install bl_el_rpu_builder_v0.0.3_rev_1.py and how to, since I'm not an expert in coding/python.
If you have some tips I'll be very grateful.
