MakeMKV not decrypting - MacOS!!

Post by livinkingstons »

I'm currently trying to rip all of my movies, shows, and personal home movies. MakeMKV has been working good for the past few days. I was able to rip a couple of seasons of The Unit, but halfway through season 2, MakeMKV stopped working. At first I figured it was just the disk, but all of them except for the one I've already done. When I start the open/decrypt disk process starts, but once it gets to the decryption process, the estimated time remaining keeps increasing and never makes any progress. I have left it decrypting for 24 hours and it has made no progress. As far as I can tell, the disk have no physical damage (I could be wrong though). I am using a mac and the hyperdrive thing Apple makes. I've reinstalled makemkv, tried on a different computer, and tried many different disks. I plan on buying a new disk drive soon, but can anyone tell me why this issue may be occurring?

DVD or BD? If DVD, does the box say anything about "Closed Captions"?

Could you indicate the optical drive model and how the drive is connected to your Mac

Hello - I have the same issue with Season 2, disc 4 on two separate windows machines. I have a DVD+R-DL hp DVD A DH16AAL LHDE connected via internal SATA on a Windows 10 OS. Every other disc ripped ok, and it will play fine if I watch it with VLC player. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there - running AnyDVD on a windows machine before opening MakeMKV was able to properly decrypt this disc for ripping. Thanks!

And yet neither of the people who are asking questions in this topic have answered the questions I asked, that could lead to an answer.

So, I'll ask again: DVD or BD? If DVD, does the box say anything about "Closed Captions"?

I am having the same issue, I was able to digitize every episode except for season 2 Disc 4, 5, and 6. These are episodes 13 - 23. The Disc is DVD and captions are included.

Code: Select all

user@host ~ $ makemkvcon mkv dev:/dev/sr0 0 .
MakeMKV v1.15.0 linux(x64-release) started
The new version 1.15.1 is available for download at http://www.makemkv.com/download/
Using direct disc access mode

Title #3 was added (19 cell(s), 0:44:55)
Title #4 was added (18 cell(s), 0:44:52)
Title #5 has length of 9 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 120 seconds and was therefore skipped
Title #6 has length of 14 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 120 seconds and was therefore skipped
