DTS Express audiostreams

#1 Post by setarip_old » Fri Oct 29, 2010 1:02 am

Several Blu-rays discs that incorporate PIP secondary video and audio, use "DTS Express" audio (a more compressed special version of DTS) for the secondary audio - the DisneyNature series is a notable example.

I see that when using MakeMKV with such a disc, by default, the "DTS Express" is UNticked - and with good reason. If you select/tick the "DTS Express" audiostream and then save the (combined video and audio)file, the resultant .MKV file will not play.

Therefore, I'd ask:

Are the MakeMKV authors pursuing the ability to decode "DTS Express" audio?

DTS express is preserved and saved to MKV same way as regular DTS or DTS-HD . But very few players can play this format for now.

Then, hopefully, the sofware players will catch up soon - as they've begun to do with PGS subtitles ;>}
