MP4 doesn't technically support many of the things that MKV supports such as HD Audio and blu-ray type subtitles.

MP4 may be limited, but, for enough money, the spec will "magically" support additional things.

Graphic subtitles like VOBSUB and PGS aren't supported because the people who created them do not WANT them in MP4. That might encourage piracy, don'cha know!

Righttttt cause I spent many thousands of dollars building a high end home theater system with 7.1.2 ATMOS sound, 65" OLED, UB820 UHD player, high end HTPC, 20 TB NAS, SHIELD, Firestick 4k....so I could pirate content. SMFH. (And no, I know you were being sarcastic). But yea, these formats can be a pain in the ass. Which is why I don't currently bother backing up the DV part of it and just use my high end HTPC to tone map with madvr.

Welp, i'm stumped.
I can't seem to get Joker to process to single layer correctly.
I just did Alita and it worked without issue. Demux with tsmuxer (the one that has the folder name of "tsMuxer test"), yusesope's v2 tool, remux to ts with tsmuxer. I have tried a different copy of joker (just in case), demux with ffmpeg, remux without audio, adjusting the the load_balancing_factor of yuescope's tool (since it was showing either 99.6% or 99.7% of EL once it completed with no error).
only success I have had was with doing a 20 second clip with no audio.
anything suggestions would be much appreciated.

Same issue with Doctor Sleep. Going through the steps with the whole movie resulted in a 99.2% EL analysis in yusecope's tool and then no DV layer once remuxed back into a TS container. Using a 20s clip, the files go through yusecope's at 100% on everything and the resulting TS with no audio contains both DV and HDR 10+:

My current MKV samples store no DV metadata in codec private area - once I add the support I'll update the samples and hopefully this would give the start to DV support in MKV container.

OK so I did Doctor Sleep (Full Movie) using the "Test Build"

Everything processed 100%.
(I used EAC3TO to Extract the BL & EL)

Still recieved the same message in tsMuxeR, and thought this was not going to work.

That has worked. 100% on all. mediainfo shows DV. and the final muxed file plays and triggers DV.
Thank you very much.

Didn't get to test this new build myself yet, but hasn't that pyramid message always shown up when remuxing back to TS? From the couple movies I've tried so far that worked, I believe that message has always been there; although I have no idea what it means and its significance.

OK so I did Doctor Sleep (Full Movie) using the "Test Build"

Everything processed 100%.
(I used EAC3TO to Extract the BL & EL)

Still recieved the same message in tsMuxeR, and thought this was not going to work.

I regularly get the message, I think it's normal and to do with timestamps, some information here https://bitmovin.com/docs/encoding/faqs ... by-default

@yusesope

Just tried your temporary build, and it worked for Joker, however I tried it with Spectre, and the EL analysis rockets to 100% fairly quickly, but the BL analysis sits at 0%, and does not progress. I also tried it with First Man, and it just hangs and says "wait.." after hitting enter when adding the EL.

Just tested Doctor Sleep and can confirm that new temp build works. But then I just tried A Quiet Place, and it was getting hung up at the "Wait..." message. Went back to the previous version and that went through just fine.

@yusesope - let me know if I can supply you anything when this hangs on wait... On the temp build.
