Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
@LucasSimba you tried the clips posted for @yusesope?
To see if you have the same results
I tried with the Sony player and the "dvdfab" works but wrongs colors and the other 2 no DV and play in fast speed

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
It may just be my old eyes or a placebo effect but the colours do look different on some of these, the double track double layer looks less saturated, hopefully someone can do some side by side screenshots.yusesope wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 5:47 pmHere are several clips of 23 seconds each relating to the Joker movie (with the iconic scene that has been discussed HERE on the Plex forum).
You can also find the original HEVC raw streams *** and those obtained with my program (the BL_EL_RPU version HERE, and the second BL_RPU iteration HERE).
I also muxed the Bluray disc with DVDFab and after an analysis with a hexadecimal editor, the file obtained is identical to what can be obtained with my program - second iteration)
If you want to share files on other forums too, there is no problem for me.
- Joker_BL_EL_RPU raw HEVC (my program - first version)
- Joker BL_RPU raw HEVC (my program - second version - identical to that of DVDFab)
***Code: Select all
ffmpeg -i bluray:D:\Joker_BD -map 0:0 -ss 19 -to 42 -c copy D:\Joker_BL.hevc ffmpeg -i bluray:D:\Joker_BD -map 0:1 -ss 19 -to 42 -c copy D:\Joker_EL.hevc
Edit using C6 and plex on shield
Edit 2 - The double track double layer seems to play on the X700 and looks similar to the shield, I tried 2 of the other tracks but they were jumpy and locked up the X700, they did all look the same as the double layer double track to me though

not sure why your reply sounds so arrogant, maybe it's just me being tired

I don't want to offend or disrespect anyone
A quick search; Transpeed X3, X3 Max, UGOOS AM6 Plus, etc.
Like I said they are many Android devices with DV support
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
no worries. none of these devices from what I've read have a dolby vision license though. there are many SOCs with physically capable hw, but it still can't do dolby vision without a license.
edit: ok not sure about the am6 as I can't find proper info
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
As much as this was a breakthrough and very exciting I feel like we are back to square one. Anyone else feel this?
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
UGOOS AM6 Plus is 1:1 hardware like the minix
Same SOC and GPU
SoC Amlogic S922XJ
GPU ARM Mali-G52 MP6
And the "Amlogic Video Engine" and more cheap
And remember, they don't respond your answer about DV DL
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
So did anybody tried to produce a single layer DV 60fps movie with hd audio using yusecope's second version of his tool?
I believe the 60fps DV movies didn't play without stuttering on LG TV's when they are dual layer right?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
once again, it has physically capable hardware, but also needs a dolby license. Minix has told me they have the full paid license. obviously they haven't said about dual layer, or I wouldn't be 'keeping my eye on it' to test what it's capable of at launch. English is not your primary language though, so I forgive you

one more comparison: https://slow.pics/c/TyeCCLDz
no doubt in my mind, it's not identical. at least not from X700 vs Shield

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
after more comparisons with my TV internal app and the x700, I now believe the Shield actually output over-saturated color in DV.
I suspect it's because they send a bt2020 rgb 8bit signalwhile the x700 and the appleTV send RGB 8 bit ( no color primaries signaled).

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
wonder if it may be because of the AI-enhanced upscaler? I know that it's only supposed to be used for regular HD videos, but maybe it's still doing something to these 4k videos.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 12:10 amafter more comparisons with my TV internal app and the x700, I now believe the Shield actually output over-saturated color in DV.

nop... AI upscaler is turned off, I hate it. https://www.avsforum.com/forum/39-netwo ... st58785700
on my end, anything that needs upscaling goes into HTPC/madVR.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Is anyone else having this issue with @yusesope tool
Throws an error and hangs the video works it is just missing the last second or so
I can still use the output and create a mp4 using dlb_mp4base and will play back on my Visio TV
FFMPEG output warnings

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Have you tried setting the Shield's output to YUV 4:2:0 10 bit or YUV 4:2:2 12 bit rather than RGB 8 bit? I could definitely see things looking different if not set to YUV.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 12:10 amafter more comparisons with my TV internal app and the x700, I now believe the Shield actually output over-saturated color in DV.
