I’m surprised Dolby have granted them a license!

I'm hoping TSMuxer devs update their program so that the BL+EL+RPU hevc can be preserved.
They are working on it.

I'm keeping my eye on this device: https://theminixforum.com/index.php?thr ... 2020.2404/ hoping it will be the first to do dual-layer as it's been requested to the devs for months during production, and they've already said the full dolby license has been paid. it's not an official Netflix or Amazon etc certified device, so if it can't do dv with DRM services, I don't see why else they need a dolby vision license. anyway it's out in 3 weeks so we'll see.
That looks almost perfect for what I need. Hopefully someone on here picks it up and tests it out. If not I may just bite the bullet and get one myself.
The Holy Grail if it supports Profile 7 and we can play back DL DV.
What I would like even more is full BDMV support so we don't have to worry about muxing anything and we would get the Atmos audio also.

Pipe Dreams......

@LucasSimba you tried the clips posted for @yusesope?

To see if you have the same results

I tried with the Sony player and the "dvdfab" works but wrongs colors and the other 2 no DV and play in fast speed

Here are several clips of 23 seconds each relating to the Joker movie (with the iconic scene that has been discussed HERE on the Plex forum).
You can also find the original HEVC raw streams *** and those obtained with my program (the BL_EL_RPU version HERE, and the second BL_RPU iteration HERE).

I also muxed the Bluray disc with DVDFab and after an analysis with a hexadecimal editor, the file obtained is identical to what can be obtained with my program - second iteration)

If you want to share files on other forums too, there is no problem for me.

***

Code: Select all

ffmpeg -i bluray:D:\Joker_BD -map 0:0 -ss 19 -to 42 -c copy D:\Joker_BL.hevc
ffmpeg -i bluray:D:\Joker_BD -map 0:1 -ss 19 -to 42 -c copy D:\Joker_EL.hevc
It may just be my old eyes or a placebo effect but the colours do look different on some of these, the double track double layer looks less saturated, hopefully someone can do some side by side screenshots.

Edit using C6 and plex on shield

Edit 2 - The double track double layer seems to play on the X700 and looks similar to the shield, I tried 2 of the other tracks but they were jumpy and locked up the X700, they did all look the same as the double layer double track to me though

Why that device is special?

They are many android devices with DV, they confirmed that device can read DV DL?

The price is similar to x700
not sure why your reply sounds so arrogant, maybe it's just me being tired :P can you name me some of these many android devices that can do dolby vision and, like I said, are NOT netflix or google etc certified (single layer) devices? it's special because it's the first one with a dolby license that doesn't seem to require being single layer. but who knows, it's just why I'm keeping an eye on it..

English is not my language and maybe I don't express myself well

I don't want to offend or disrespect anyone

A quick search; Transpeed X3, X3 Max, UGOOS AM6 Plus, etc.

Like I said they are many Android devices with DV support

no worries. none of these devices from what I've read have a dolby vision license though. there are many SOCs with physically capable hw, but it still can't do dolby vision without a license.
edit: ok not sure about the am6 as I can't find proper info

As much as this was a breakthrough and very exciting I feel like we are back to square one. Anyone else feel this?

UGOOS AM6 Plus is 1:1 hardware like the minix

Same SOC and GPU
SoC Amlogic S922XJ
GPU ARM Mali-G52 MP6
And the "Amlogic Video Engine" and more cheap

And remember, they don't respond your answer about DV DL

So did anybody tried to produce a single layer DV 60fps movie with hd audio using yusecope's second version of his tool?

I believe the 60fps DV movies didn't play without stuttering on LG TV's when they are dual layer right?

once again, it has physically capable hardware, but also needs a dolby license. Minix has told me they have the full paid license. obviously they haven't said about dual layer, or I wouldn't be 'keeping my eye on it' to test what it's capable of at launch. English is not your primary language though, so I forgive you

one more comparison: https://slow.pics/c/TyeCCLDz

no doubt in my mind, it's not identical. at least not from X700 vs Shield

after more comparisons with my TV internal app and the x700, I now believe the Shield actually output over-saturated color in DV.
I suspect it's because they send a bt2020 rgb 8bit signalwhile the x700 and the appleTV send RGB 8 bit ( no color primaries signaled).

Netflix Stranger Things DV comparisons

x700 vs LG C8: https://slow.pics/c/Stl6kE9t

P-S: before you ask, yes my shield is up to date

wonder if it may be because of the AI-enhanced upscaler? I know that it's only supposed to be used for regular HD videos, but maybe it's still doing something to these 4k videos.
