Newbie - Just Flashed Asus BW-16D1HT
I have just flashed my Asus BW-16D!HT from 3.10 to 3.10MK but on MKV the firmware still says 3.10 but how do I know it has worked as I don't have a 4K disc yet to test.
Thanks

If you'd taken a screen shot before you'd flashed it you'd have the two to compare and see the difference. I can verify, you did it right

Thanks.
I know I should have taken a screenshot before but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

And I wasn't saying that in a snarky way, sorry if it came out like that.

No I know, I should have taken a screenshot.
Re: Newbie - Just Flashed Asus BW-16D1HT
I just added the same drive ASUS BW-16D1HT
Can you point me to where you found the correct firmware to flash?
This is what my drive shows now
LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible (with patched firmware)
Drive platform: MT1959
Harware support: Yes
Firmware support: No
Firmware type: Original (patched version available)
Firmware version: 3.10
DVD all regions: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw data read: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw metadata read: Possible (with patched firmware)
Unrestricted read speed: Possible (with patched firmware)
So I assume yours said the same and it looks like your firmware update worked??
Re: Newbie - Just Flashed Asus BW-16D1HT
Look at the sticky topics at the top of this very forum and you'll find the custom mk firmware thread. The link to the firmware is in there.
Re: Newbie - Just Flashed Asus BW-16D1HT
Found the thread in the firmware for the drive. Two questions.
Mike says" (this topic will be updated with detailed flashing instructions later)"
I do not see any flash instructions in the thread yet. Do I update the firmware like I would standard firmware for a DVD drive? Would hate to mess up a drive I just installed in my computer.
Since I seem to be able to rip Blu-rays and find the FLP title just fine, and no UHD yet, what does the patch get me ?

See that thread for info on how to flash. It's pretty painless and if you follow the instructions (there are videos linked in that first post) there's not a lot of risk involved.
Having LibreDrive support is a benefit even on regular blu-rays. Typically new MKB's are released (from time to time) with new titles. These MKB's can block your ability to decrypt even older discs until new MKB support is released in MakeMKV. mike's usually quite fast at that so not a really big deal, however, LibreDrive allows you to ignore MKB's altogether and will allow you to forever decrypt all your titles that have title keys available forever. So, that's quite the benefit I think.

Perfect. A couple quick questions before I flash. How do I determine the drive platform? I googled, could not find anything about drive platforms related to MT1959SamuriHL wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 11:43 pmhttps://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... 16&t=19634

Also, since my drive is ASUS BW-16D1HT I assume number 3 (SVC NS50+ LG only) does not apply to me

IMPORTANT Before you flash:
2. Drive Platform MT1959<Most important
3. SVC NS50+ LG only
Re: Newbie - Just Flashed Asus BW-16D1HT
Right. You should be flashing the BW-16D1HT 3.10 MK firmware. And then you are done.
Re: Newbie - Just Flashed Asus BW-16D1HT
I flashed my drive and it now says:
Drive Information
OS device name: \Device\CdRom0
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: BW-16D1HT
Revision: 3.10
Serial number: ***
Firmware date: 2119-01-04 10:14
Bus encryption flags: 1F
Highest AACS version: 70
LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Firmware type: Patched (microcode access re-enabled)
Firmware version: 3.10
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Possible, not yet enabled
In the video, he flashes, then skips the reboot and says he wants to show everything in one take, so goes to an Asus downgrade tool, I couldn't find that tool and don't know if I need to run it?
Do I need to run the the Asus downgrade tool now? Maybe I am only halfway done.
I tested and everything seems to be working normally with the drive.

Re: Newbie - Just Flashed Asus BW-16D1HT
Nope. Leave it alone at this point . It's now fully LibreDrive compatible and if in the future you wanted to, ready to support UHD.
Re: Newbie - Just Flashed Asus BW-16D1HT
Yeah, thanks for your help. So easy.
