TSMuxer will lose some of the DV, read back a few posts. If you do that you will lose the EL bits and pieces

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
A quick question, if this works will it be identical (in theory) to the original dual layer source? As it has BL+El, or do we lose something like 12bit?

Its the same size so I think everything is preserved. The decoding of the BL and EL is still requiring 2 HEVC streams to be decoded so in theory I think its the same - unless the Shield is dropping the decoding of the EL and just playing the BL + RPU - not sure how we can tell?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Unfortunately, the single-layer file created by yusesope won't play in my x700( they also stutter on the C8) so I can't really compare properly as i did with TS-DL vs Mp4-DL
Also, with the shield, I cannot go frame by frame making it very hard to compare exactly the same frame.
So i tried my best to go at the same frame...it's close but not identical.. single layer looks brighter and washed out a bit
comparison made in a complete black room without any lights.. Camera settings locked.. Tripod and bluetooth triggering.
4.6 is identical to 7.6
The shield is sending a different signal than the appleTV and the x700:
So maybe the difference is because I used 2 different players. no way to be sure.
IMO, the shield just cannot play both BL and EL... so we get BL+RPU
Shield (up to date):

AppleTV & x700:

So if yusesope method ever works on the x700, I'll do a proper comparison

Thanks you very much @RESET_9999
The frame is pretty close, good work.
So we can say thats is not the magic solution unfortunately

Do the Shield and ATV4K look the same, meaning brighter and washed out compared to the DL File?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 11:39 pmUnfortunately, the single-layer file created by yusesope won't play in my x700( they also stutter on the C8) so I can't really compare properly as i did with TS-DL vs Mp4-DL

I never tried my appleTV for DV rips. Does plex support DV as well or just MrMC (i dont own this app)?

Infuse is the best, I think MrMC works as well but Infuse on the ATV4K is solid.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 12:13 amI never tried my appleTV for DV rips. Does plex support DV as well or just MrMC (i dont own this app)?

is it free ? since I own a x700, I'm not very interrested in paying for SL.

Same for me with x700 and C8RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 11:39 pmUnfortunately, the single-layer file created by yusesope won't play in my x700( they also stutter on the C8)

Starting to get the feeling this is the case. Disappointing if true.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 11:39 pmIMO, the shield just cannot play both BL and EL... so we get BL+RPU

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
So I did the entire movie The Meg with DTS-HD MA 7.1
File played on the Shield
File played on the native Plex App on my C8 (others were having issues, mine played just fine - I'm on Wifi because of the 100Mb nic on the TV)
Really have no way in telling the difference between the two (if there was any)
Would like to know if the Shield, and or the TV is playing this correctly when muxed in a SL file.
Disappointing in the screen shots posted earlier.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
My personal opinion on the matter is that this is a major breakthrough. If you have a Shield or a TV then you unfortunately have to deal with what you got for now until you eventually get your hands on a Sony x700 or Oppo.
Fortunately, the x700 is within an affordable price range for most people.
It would be nice to know why the slight difference in black level is occurring.
