UHD Apollo 11

Post by ccateni » Thu Jan 23, 2020 12:44 am

Before you ask, yes this is real. Dogwoof (a UK company that publishes films in the UK for many companies) has released a 4k UHD release of apollo 11. I rip the disc and it seems to work just fine, until the end. There's several minutes of a copyright notice, and that's it. When you try to skip to past it, the player stalls and is unsure what to do or crashes the video player. The box did show a logo for Macrovision, but the disc ripped everything else fine with playback working great up until that point.
Heres what makemkv says:
"MakeMKV v1.14.7 win(x64-release) started
Downloading latest SDF to C:\Users\ccateni/.MakeMKV ...
Using direct disc access mode
Using LibreDrive mode (v05 id=E064BA3E3F81)
Loaded content hash table, will verify integrity of M2TS files.
File 00004.mpls was added as title #0
File 00005.mpls was added as title #1
Title #00000.m2ts has length of 107 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 120 seconds and was therefore skipped
Title #00001.m2ts has length of 91 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 120 seconds and was therefore skipped
Title #00002.m2ts has length of 20 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 120 seconds and was therefore skipped
Title #00003.m2ts has length of 0 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 120 seconds and was therefore skipped
Title #00005.m2ts has length of 42 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 120 seconds and was therefore skipped
Title #00027.m2ts has length of 0 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 120 seconds and was therefore skipped
Title #00028.m2ts has length of 0 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 120 seconds and was therefore skipped
Operation successfully completed
Saving 2 titles into directory H:/Other/Movies/Apollo 11
AV synchronization issues were found in file 'title_t00.mkv' (title #1)
Forced subtitles track #6 turned out to be empty and was removed from output file

The AV sync message is spurious - it really should be JUST the forced subtitle track message, but they're tied together for some reason. Mike says it will be fixed in the next version, just ignore it now.

First of, jealous! I have been meaning to import that disc to the US for a while now. Someday soon!

And second, here is a thread I had started about the issue: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=21079

In the thread, as Woodstock mentioned, Mike chimed in and indicated it was not a problem to be concerned with.
