Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Hereditary dolby vision stutters on my lg c9, playing via hdd connected via usb. Other movies like Bumblebee and Fantastic Beasts play fine. Any idea?

The USB ports on the C9 are only USB2.0, maybe the combination of your USB chipset and the v2 port isn’t quite fast enough for some high bit rate titles.

Usb 2.0 has a speed of 480 Mbps which is way higher than these films’ bitrate (less than 100 Mbps), so there shouldn’t be any problem right?

Btw, the hdr10 version of the same movie still runs fine, so I doubt this is a bit rate problem but the remuxed dolby version itself

Maybe your right, all I know is I have no probs with jitters or stutters with single layer DV playback on my C9, but I do have a shield serving it via wired LAN.

Does anyone manage to play gemini man dolby vision smoothly at 60fps via usb? Mine seems to play at lower framerate. I used grencola tool.

that's because, with current displays, hdr10+ is the equivalent to dolby vision. they both offer per-frame specular enhancement over regular hdr10. mp4muxer is definitely not fake as it keeps the seperate layers intact, just like uhd discs; it literally just changes the container. single layer mp4s from DVDFab, however, remain quite questionable at best..

It sounds like the LG 2017/2018/2019 OLED tvs do not seem to support HFR as Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk does not playback well over the LG tvs built in media player or through the Plex app. Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk(HFR 60fps) plays perfectly on the Nvidia Shield via gigabit Ethernet. It could also be the crappy wifi being too slow.
LG annoyingly got rid of the usb 3 port on the 2018 models and above. Since you have the LG C7 try an SSD(or a super fast USB 3 flash drive) hooked into the tv with a USB 3.0 to SSD adapter(I use the Sabrent EC-SSHD) and copy the the DL DV Gemini Man to that SSD and see if it plays on the internal media player. If it still lags like crazy the SoC is the culprit but if it plays perfectly then the wifi is causing all of the issues for us all. I remember reading somewhere that the 2017 LG OLED did not support HFR but the 2018/2019 LG models doesn't seem to either via the internal apps.

No buffering? I tried content sharing between my pc and oled c9 and it keeps buffering.

you just need to upgrade your home network LAN to support gigabit ethernet between various ethernet ports on your devices, cat cables and the router.
