Good evening, new to the forum but LOVE MakeMKV. Just started ripping my Blu-ray collection recently. I have a Pioneer BDR-XD05B drive and a "UHD" friendly Asus BW-16D1HT. I have some launch or near launch titles that simply will not rip. The titles are Rocky Balboa (2007), Casino Royale (2007) and finally Superman (2006). I've tried to do a backup on each, with or without de-cryption, or simply rip to MKV. Nothing is working. Before I trash the discs I've posted a screen shot of the log.
Any thoughts from those who've been through this already? Again, my assumption is the discs have simply gone bad. Lastly - yes, all the discs have been cleaned and are spotless from that standpoint.

Re: Original Blu-ray releases
If many discs could not be read, I would say it is a drive problem. In your log you see "Drive Timeout" as a result, that the data could not be read from the disc and the drive tries it many time until the timeout message from the OS is shown.

Re: Original Blu-ray releases
I had a similar problem last year with my "Wild Hogs" blu-ray from 2007. I had ripped it previously a few years earlier but wanted to rerip the disc and make a new mkv file. I tried it in 3 different drives and just wouldn't rip. I then went out and bought a replacement which worked first go!mikehbkwm wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 12:55 amGood evening, new to the forum but LOVE MakeMKV. So far, that has been the only disc I have had go bad.
Cheers

Re: Original Blu-ray releases
The only problems I had with Blurays, were with some discs that a friend gave to me. They all were stored in an unprotected splinde box, full of dust. I tried some and only 2 failed.MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 7:38 amI had a similar problem last year with my "Wild Hogs" blu-ray from 2007. Re: Original Blu-ray releases
Thanks for the feedback. What's odd is these discs have been stored in a "DVD" case and untouched for the last 10 years, but guess it is what it is. Looks like I'll need to find replacements.
Re: Original Blu-ray releases
I would agree with you but it's both drives that are doing this and it's only these three discs. I've ripped well over 60+ Blu-rays and UHD discs with no problem at all. I just wonder with these being near launch titles they were manufactured a little bit different then titles later released (just a guess).
