Tenchi Muyo DVD fails

Hi, I've got the Region 1 retail DVDs of Tenchi Muyo (3 dvd box, the 3rd is an encyclopedia dvd though) and I'm trying to rip them using MakeMKV 1.6.0 and I get this error (the DVD plays fine, brand new, no scratches):

I emailed this debug and the .ifo files some months ago and got no response, so am trying again in the forum.

Version 1.6.0 was supposed to open this disc. What is the disc content - is it a movie or 7 non-related episodes?

They're episodes. They're all from the same series, so they're all related (if that's what you meant by 'related'). Total of 13 episodes (DVD 2 has the rest of them).

Semi-good news! Disc 1 works great with 1.6.2, unfortunately Disc 2 fails.
