Can not find optical drive

Post by belldandy4087 »

Ok, Windows 10, I was running the latest version of Mkv as of last night. Open the pc this morning, makemkv cant find an optical drive.
I have tried fully shutting down, and restarting
I have uninstalled and reinstalled.
I have tried installing a previous version.
Other programs can find the optical drive, I can run blue-rays and dvd directly off the drive.
Any suggestions? Thanks. Bell,

Windows can refuse access to optical devices based on security policies. The key is to figure out what changed...

Does Windows allow you to take a directory of the drive when there is a disk in it?

Yes, I can place a disk in the drive and see the files on the dvd disk.

So i am still having the issue, though now, if i dont close makemkv i can keep it working. or when i have to close it. when i want to use it again, i have uninstall it, renstall it, uninstall it again, reinstall it and it works. no idea why i have to do it twice but it works.

Turn Windows Defender off.

P.S. people actually use Windows Defender? instead of a real antivirus?

You can also try running it as Administrator. That's what I have to do.
