Can't rip Anna UHD: "Fatal program error occurred"

Post by KENSAI »

I'm trying to rip a Redbox copy of Anna in UHD, using a Libre-flashed drive that has been working great for over a month with all 4K discs, but this disc is basically crashing MakeMKV. Here's a screenshot of what I'm seeing (I had to make the URL below "code" so the forum software wouldn't truncate it):

Code: Select all

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1HJQiR4_Fve-udNoN0Uz5ISBDFKE9zfu_
I haven't seen this particular problem before - is there anything I should try?

UPDATE: I tried the same drive and disc connected to my laptop, and it didn't crash, instead giving me an error about the volume key not being available.

MakeMKV v1.14.5 darwin(x64-release) started
Optical drive "BD-RE HL-DT-ST BD-RE BU40N 1.03d" opened in OS access mode.
Using direct disc access mode
Using LibreDrive mode (v05 id=866A98CB9C4E)
Saved AACS dump file as /Users/jasondunn/Library/MakeMKV/MKB20_v68_Anna_6AD4.tgz
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc

Greetings-
I am experiencing the same error, Failed to Open.

Using direct disc access mode
LibreDrive firmware support is not yet available for this drive (id=FFC6EF9102F9)
Saved AACS dump file as /Users/ednelson/Library/MakeMKV/MKB20_v68_Anna_6AD4.tgz
LibreDrive compatible drive is required to open this disc - video can't be decrypted.

Here is the file created by Anna on the 4k UHD disc for decryption if you don't have it yet so it can be worked by the bossman here.

Drive admittedly spun up so loud I thought it was going bad, it did it about 5 times before it finished the can't be read portion and created the tgz for us to send.

I can't get it to work either. I have two other drives and will try them.

So this disc is causing a crash on Windows 10 yet rips fine on macOS High Sierra I think I'm at. Sending a log in would probably help.

I originally purchased 3 drives (all different) to begin my ripping process as I had many hundreds to rip. But, as it turns out, that was a wise decision for another reason. More than I would have thought, when a movie won't rip via one drive, I try another, and 99.9% of the time, that fixes whatever was wrong. I am in the process of ripping Anna now on a drive other than the first one I tried it on and it seems to be working just fine!! (Using Mac OS)

My first reaction is STOP ripping rental discs! Buy them and make backups of your OWN discs

Hey spl147: for the record, I rip the rental, watch it once, then delete the file. I'm not a content pirate, I'm simply time-shifting the viewing window.
