MakeMKV problems after reinstall

Decided to add a new set of drives to my Ubuntu box and give it a clean reinstall as it's been a number of years, unfortunately MakeMKV stopped working with the reinstall - I searched the board for suggestions, and saw one suggesting an Admin needed to call MakeMKV, unfortunately that didn't do the trick- any suggestions?

What changed? Lots Unfortunately
  • I Installed a fresh version of Ubuntu Desktop 19.04, before the rebuild I had been on Ubuntu server with a number of upgrades behind the install.
  • I added a new set of WD 4TB Red drives on the SATA ports my CD and BD drives had occupied (3 &4 )
  • I moved the CD and BD to positions five and six on my GA-970A-DS3P (rev. 1.0) motherboard
  • I am sure I dorked around with the BIOS hoping to find a setting that might resolve this.
  • Same CD/BD drives & cables
  • Moving the CD/BD drives back to their original position doesn't seem to help, but they do seem to autodetect and work faster.
  • I even set the country code on one of the drives to see if that might get me working (I was desperate, don't judge me - can I ever revert?)
Output when trying to rip a DVD that I was able to successfully do just a day prior to the reinstall

One more important thing to add, I am getting a bunch of I/O errors in my logs as well.
