Did you happen to load the link provided & read the suggestions?

Std forum advice is typically to 'clean the disc', no matter how pristine it may appear to casual inspection. If that doesn't do it, the referenced 'manual mode' is worth a try.

I get similar message.
Source: DVD purchased from Amazon
MakeMKV version 1.14.5

Read that there may be a 'manual mode' to open the disk, but don't get that option.
I'm using the trail version of the software. If buying/registering would solve this problem would be happy to do so.

As I indicated I read there is a manual mode, but don't get that option. The link/page also indicates a manual mode bit not how to access manual mode. I open the program but then what? Is it a DOS command line etc, other?

Menu bar, top left...

select 'File' (left-most option) > 'Open DVD files manually' (2nd option in list)

This will produce a new selection dialog listing all detected titles (including anything MakeMKV may have erroneously excluded)...

ManualMode (Small).jpg

Provide the # of the title you want & 'OK'. It will appear in the main title/track selection pane.

Note: This is an over-simplified example, as I have no readily available candidates which actually require this process.

You need to go into "Preferences" and click the box to enable "Expert Mode" to get the "Open DVD Files Manually" option.

I didn't have a problem ripping John Wick 3, but the resulting file had a 5 minute gap in it near the start (I reckon it's to do with those cells that were reported as being "skipped due to cell commands (structure protection?)"). So I played the DVD in VLC, checked to see what title was actually playing (#74, as it turned out), and then used manual mode to export that title directly. This seemed to have worked, in that the gap isn't there now, but I haven't watched it all the way through yet.

Hope that helps.

Thanks. I just checked the rip I did, and after about 5 min in it has audio tracks that overlay/play on the incorrect screens or visa versa. So not as simple as I wished. Will try your suggestions.

As a follow up. Success!

Per suggestions, used VLC to see what title was playing.
The using manual mode (after going into Preferences and Manual mode (this would be good to add to the Manual Mode link on the DVD documentation site), then in Manual mode used the title and it worked just fine.

Thanks all for the feedback and suggestions.

I am having the same problem as the OP. I'm new to this so some direction towards what I need to do to get this to work would be great.

Follow instructions in post #7 (in this thread) to enable 'manual mode', followed by post #6. Pictures/stories included.

Thank you d00zah. The graphic showing the location of where to place title strings in manual mode helped a newcomer like me tremendously.

I am having fun with the John Wick 3 BluRay. it puts the chapters out of order. One minute John is holding up a crucifix to the glass of a gypsy movie house and the next Haille Berry is backwashing his water bottle in the desert.

This is coming from the 3-pack special edition with both blu ray and dvd of all three movies.

That's because you haven't found the "correct" title yet. The DVD has about a dozen (more on BD and UHD).

Only one of the titles is correct. A couple will be the right length, but the chapter order is screwed up on all but one.

Oh, great. Any idea which one it is? There's like 30 of them,;)
