Asus BW-16D1HT 3.10 Firmware

Post by Hopest » Tue Aug 06, 2019 6:41 pm

I've watched the UHD Friendly Guide to flashing a Blu-Ray drive but before I do it I just want to check I've got this correct as my version is different to the videos.

So the version of my ASUS BW-16D1HT is 3.10-01

So do I use the bin file included in the "Downgrade Enabled Firmware V.2" which is 3.02 or do I use the bin file from the latest mk-firmware-pack-20190728 which is 3.10?

I think it's the later but just being extra cautious and can you confirm I don't need to use the ASUS ODD FW 3.02 Updater Tool that was in the 2nd half of the youtube video.

Sorry if these are stupid questions, I think you guys rock and thanks for all the efforts for making this easy and possible!

As your drive came with 3.10, you must flash ASUS 3.10-MK first as this firmware restores "downgradeability" to your drive. Then, if you don't want to use ASUS 3.10-MK (I don't know why you wouldn't! as it is great firmware!!) you can flash whatever firmware you like.
Cheers :D

Sir you are a legend!

Thanks for the reply,

I thought I was right in my assumptions but I thought why not ask before doing just to be on the cautious side of things.

Many thanks, can’t wait to start.

So I have followed process and it said restart PC, did this and inserted UHD and says "no disc".

Opened Downgrade Enabled program again and it says the firmware is still 3.10-01.

What have I missed?

Thanks,

Tom

Open up MakeMKV and see what it says for info about the drive. Post a picture so we can see what it says.

I thought Fury 4K was one of the two AACS 2.1 discs not (yet?) supported by MakeMKV?

Strange, tried loads of my 4K movies and no luck.

Downgraded to 3.02 and just trying Fast Furious 8 which is now read and making a MKV.

That is strange. I'm using MK 3.10 on my BW-16D1HT and I've not had too many issues with it.

I guess you forgot to reboot after flashing 3.10 MK.

Please try again and reboot. Should work then.

I have updated my Asus firmware to 3.10 MK. and everything is running great. But I did notice that is now says "Microcode access re-enabled"
what is this and what does this do?

Thank you Makemkv, keep up the great work.

That's the magic that allows LibreDrive to work.
