One time fee. MakeMKV isn't a subscription, like some of the other programs out there.

Sales tax is state-specific in the US.

Mike has told Avangate the price is USD 50. Avangate collects the price in local currency for the purchaser, and also collects things like VAT and other taxes that are required.

The US does not have VAT, or a nationwide sales/use tax. I've seen where VAT can run from as low as 8% to as much as 50%.

I have read about people using VPNs, gift cards bought on US banks, and using US addresses, to purchase software licenses (like MakeMKV) to get the US price, and so that their home governments don't know they bought something so scandalous.
