I tried ripping The Fall series 1 disc 2 this weekend but i kept getting error messages. I clicked the link about these errors and it says it 100% can ONLY be a bad disc or a failing drive.
The drive is damn near brand new - only bought a few months ago, and has had no issues with any other disc, which makes me think that based on that it must surely be the disc ... but then the episodes play fine when watching them. There's 3 episodes on disc 2 and although MakeMKV will only rip 1 of them, all 3 play perfectly fine ... both on my blu ray drive that i'm using to try and rip them and also the blu ray player downstairs.
I acquired this disc so since the episodes actually play in two blu ray drives (in terms of watching the episodes) i can't actually report the disc as damaged, unlike a cracked disc that doesn't play.
Any experiences folk able to shed light?
**** If anyone knows how i can post my errors then go ahead. I just copied and pasted in to code wraps but there's too many characters in use apparently.
Errors when trying to rip The Fall. Will only rip 2 of 3 episodes.

Re: Errors when trying to rip The Fall. Will only rip 2 of 3 episodes.
You didn't mention which drive type you are having issues with.
The sequence of errors is typical of a USB-powered drive that is trying to spin faster than the USB power will allow. This typically happens later in the rip, when you reach the parts of the disk where the data can be read faster. You're pretty deep into the 3rd large file, and the drive goes "off line".
You can get similar errors when the drive hits a sector that it can ALMOST read, and it keeps trying... until the operating system thinks it has gone off line.

I don't seem to be able to find the actual invoice for the drive i bought but this seems to be it: https://www.ebuyer.com/767767-lg-bh16ns ... 55-auau10b. Certainly looks like that one, unless there's other LG's that look identical but are slightly newer/older with the model number.Woodstock wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2019 4:32 pmYou didn't mention which drive type you are having issues with.

The hard drive i was initially trying to rip to was an external desktop one (mains cable & USB) but the second one where i had the same issue is an internal HDD.
It did keep trying to rip the disc as you say but in the end seems to have given up.
