LG BH16NS55 v1.04
LG BH16NS55 v1.04
Hi,
I have just bought an LG BH16NS55 and it has come preloaded with firmware version 1.04.
I know nothing about patching the firmware but would it be useful to anybody for me to 'download' the firmware? If so, can somebody point me to a set of instructions to accomplish this?
TIA.

Re: LG BH16NS55 v1.04
Thank you, I have seen that post.
To be clear, I do not have a 4K TV nor do I have any 4K software therefore so long as I can rip standard BDs, I don't need to modify or downgrade my firmware.
I haven't seen any mention of version 1.04 of the firmware so was offering to 'download' a clean copy, if that is possible, to share with the community so that it might be modified for the benefit of others who do want UHD capabilities.

but you are correct for standard blurays there is no need to modify

Re: LG BH16NS55 v1.04
Mike extracted 1.04 from one of my BH16NS55’s a couple of months ago. I’m surprised he hasn’t done anything with it yet.Billycar11 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2019 9:07 amyou are right we dont have an mk of 1.04 but there is no public info on how to get that since lg disabled dos flash to read them out the only person i think knows how is mikeadmin the developer of makemkv.Mr_Orange wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2019 9:03 amThank you, I have seen that post.

Mike thought that he updated the firmware pack. Mike was wrong...

Re: LG BH16NS55 v1.04
FYI:
Just ran some speed tests. Started UHD folder backup and let it run for 10 minutes.
1. BH16NS55 1.02 - Read Rate = 13.2 M/s [3.1x]
2. BH16NS55 1.04-MK - Read Rate = 13.7 M/s [3.2x]
Speed difference is negligible.
I don't use AnyDVD so unable to check if 1.04-MK is UHD friendly with it. (If ASUS 3.10-MK is then I would assume this one is too!)

Re: LG BH16NS55 v1.04
I could always flash it to my bw16h1dt and see if it's compatible with anydvd. If no one's done it by the time I get home tonight I'll give it a try.

The answer to this is yes, it's fully UHD friendly. As always, nice work, Mike!
Re: LG BH16NS55 v1.04
Do you think that is it likely that I would see a speed increase when ripping standard Blurays, if I install the MK firmware?MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2019 8:14 amFYI:

Are there any other advantages to the MK firmware considering I only have standard Blurays with no intention of buying 4K?

Re: LG BH16NS55 v1.04
No speed increase for now maybe in future but the other advantage is when new aacs versions come out you don't need to wait for makemkv to be updated because it can get around the aacs being revoked with mk firmwareMr_Orange wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2019 10:49 pmDo you think that is it likely that I would see a speed increase when ripping standard Blurays, if I install the MK firmware?MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2019 8:14 amFYI:

Re: LG BH16NS55 v1.04
Speaking of speed, OMG this firmware is SLOW. LOL At least compared to BW16D1HT MK 3.10. I'll be switching back after my rip finally finishes. It's been going for well over an hour now. Yuck. LOL
