Actually the 640kbps dd is best for me. My receiver doesn’t support 4K and also no Dolby Atmos. LG tv does, but I prefer audio from receiver so use optical which only supports up to dd/dts. :P

Going to try with CloneBD though, just curious if it supports lossless audio. Maybe upgrade receiver in a few months :-)
Ah ok, but does your AVR have an ARC port? that would give you dd+

CloneBD works well with Dolby vision, it even can compress to a smaller file size, but it creates a Dolby digital track with audio description for people who are blind. So a man is telling what is happening on screen. I can not choose a different audio track. This happens with te uhd bluray of Cold Pursuit.
You need *uncheck* those soundtracks and make sure the only main soundtrack it checked.
Yes it worked the second time! think i checked the wrong soundtrack. Thx.

So do you just select the bdmv folder on your hdd in clonebd, choose mp4 with no compression, and then get a dolby vision mp4 like what mp4muxer makes? can I see the mediainfo of the finished file?

looks identical! well shit, that was a huge waste of time spending hours coding scripts for my app to help people when this thing exists and even has a pretty gui  And this program is free to download?? does it work on Mac too? Also I wonder if the rear-back left and rear-back right channels get blended into the rear right and rear left channels (like eac3to), or if they're just disregarded (like XMedia Recode). I suppose I could just Google it.. :P

This CloneBD is great. I couldn't done anything with dv-mp4-maker on some files because I got audio errors and no DV track errors but CloneBD don't see any issues and is producing working mp4.
But I have two questions. How to just copy ac3 track? It looks like CloneBD is recompressing. Or maybe not if I will take same output bitrate like in source? Or maybe better idea is to compress DTS 5.1 to AC3 640 5.1 instead using AC3 448 from disc?

Sony TV's can't play dual layer video files in Dolby Vision, unfortunately. The test samples you tried are single layer files that can't be created without official dolby tools. Only certain TV models from LG, Vizio, and TCL can play dual layer dv files, otherwise you'll need either an Oppo 203 or the Chinese clone from bd-mod to play them properly.
Thanks for clarification. Seems like I bet on the wrong horse.

I feel you man, as someone switched to x900f from vizio p75f.

I have a question for @Grencola. Is the inability of playing dual layer DV on Sony a hard limit (hardware, cert or kernel) issue from Sony or able to be solved by software? For example, is Kodi able to push an update to play the remuxed mp4 on DV?

aw damn, the p75 is such a great TV too :) Yea it's just a software limit. They could easily allow it if they wanted. And as for Kodi, highly doubtful Dolby will be giving them a license any time soon. Sony's x700 bdp can play the dv mp4s from both usb and dlna servers like plex just fine for under 200 bux.

DVDFab can make single layer dolby vision mp4's and they play on my LG B7. Unfortunately DVDFab only creates a single layer mp4 in compression mode, so not passthrough. In passthrough mode it's dual layer.
Maybe Sony tv's can play these files as well.

Nothing can make single layer DV from original dual layer of UHD bluray without decrease in quality. Because original streams/layers are encoded in HEVC which is "lossy" codec. Once you unpack/decode and re-encode, there goes your quality.

Yes, but you can't see the difference between this encode of 48,2 Mb/s or the remux of 52,7 Mb/s. I have been comparing it several times. Maybe this is a nice solution for tv's that don't play dual layer mp4.

Well, whether the difference is visible or not is different topic. And this is very dependent in viewing environment, equipment and viewer.

That's not true at all; HEVC is NOT just a lossy codec. It can be perfectly lossless. In fact, Blurays use HEVC :) This is also such minor compression, we're talking a few mbits, that he's right, you won't see that. Plus the benefit could be a HUGE; what's now stopping us from demuxing the new single layer dv video track, and then muxing it with the hd-audio + atmos track into a ts container to now get full playback we've been wanting without an Oppo?! Apple TV 4k running MrMC, the Sony X700 BDP, and some TV's with e-arc can playback dolby vision from single layer video files and they support hd audio. I'm pretty excited! :D

H.265 HEVC is lossy codec. Period.

Grencola, I recently got Atmos stuff. So back to this, any way to do DV with lossy Atmos? I know there is ATV4K solution, but I only have a Sony X700.
